Hi Guys,

Did any of you have a consul looking for more documents other than what are listed on the interview letter? I just want to come prepared with everything.

I am going to bring the original copies of the evidences of relationship that we sent with the application, I just wonder if there are other things I should bring aside from those listed and those, which copies, we sent with the N400. Those documents I'm talking about are the ff: marriage cert, birth certs, passport, greencard and ITRs for the last 3 years.

Should I bring some latest bill statements under my name and my husband's, or maybe a car registration or latest bank statements?

Thanks.

It would help if you completed your timeline so someone might give you a good answer. If you filled 3 or more months ago, I would personally take all the original documents submitted. I would also take updated information from checking/savings accounts, pictures, bills, etc. I would be prepared for anything. It has been a long journey and I would not want to have a problem at this stage. We took everything to our interview to get the 2 year GC. They only wanted a copy of a checking account. I gave them the original and he kept it. You never know what they might want, so I would take everything I could get my hands on.

Good luck.

Thanks John. I'm sorry that I didnt myself clear. I am from July 2008 filers for N400. I had to ask the N400 filers based on their experience since I already submitted all the docs the USCIS listed on the N400 checklist. And I'm also bringing the additional documents listed on the interview letter.

You're right, you'll never know what they might ask for, so I wanted to know based on the experiences of the others who had their N400 interviews before me.

From personal experience, you need to bring all proof of genuine marriage that you presented during your AOS interview. In my case that delayed my citizenship for additional 3 months. It depends on your interviewer, but I was told that they have the right to check on your bona-fide marriage.

Phone bills, auto and health insurance, lease agreement and any other document(s) that has both your name on it.

Just focus on getting the civic questions right and good luck

Wasn't going to bring all of our original documents with us as they never wanted to see them before, but my wife's IO wanted to see every single original. Some of our documents are rare and extremely difficult and expensive to replace, so my wife insisted they be returned to her and put in their respective folders before handing over the next one. So take your time if this happens to you.

Thanks, NickD.

My husband feels the same way, he doesnt want me to bring the original copies but I insist because I want to get to the finish line as soon as I can.

I would bring the originals to show them. I won't let them take my originals though, just to show them, in case they want to keep it, I will tell them to make a copy with their own copy machine right there. Well... may be I can bring copies for them to keep too but how am I going to know what do they want, I can't make copies for everything, it's expensive to pay for copying fees then they don't even look at it, let alone keep the copy.

I suggest you bring the originals of all your documents, even the ones they did not ask. I was asked even to show my social security card. I did not have many documents, and therefore, was told that as I applied based on marriage the burden of proof is on me to prove that our marriage is real.
