I just got an email from Bombay consulate confirming they received my K3 on 03/12/09 and have mailed out the packet 3 to me in Canada

Shout out to Queue

Does the packet 3 have to be submitted in person at VFS in Mumbai? what are the documents needed for packet 3 and what fees need to be submitted?

I had no intention of doing the K3 but NVC is making me reconsider as it is 15 days since approval and no DS3032 has been generated as of yet.

The packet 3 actually gets mailed to the Mumbai consulate. The packet 3 is basically a checklist of documents that you need to sign-off on to say you are in possesion of, and there is a DS-2001 form which basically says you are in possesion of the necessary documents and ready for the interivew.

Go to this link: http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/ivforms.html

and look for the Instructions for K-3 visa applicants and the Application Readiness form. That is the packet 3 info.

Once the consulate receives this, they will schedule an interview date, and you will be required to submit the documents (Called Packet 4) that were in the checklist to VFS in Mumbai (or another town like Ahmedabad) 7-10 Business days before the interview.

Packet 4 is basically the Affadavit of Support but you have to use the I-134 instead of the I-864, and fillout the DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-157, along with the DS-230 part I and Part II, and the other civil documents of the beneficiary.

Husbie called NVC few minutes ago. The operator told him that our packages HAVE BEEN REVIEWED.. And it would take few more days after that to make the case complete.. What does that mean?

They were done reviewing but not yet complete? I am confused..

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

They are probably waiting for a supervisor to signoff. You should hear in a day or two. I would check back with them after 9pm Eastern tonight.

hit n run guys

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Sucks big time....I really want to avoid a K3 interview in Bombay!

Apparently NVC is having problems with their email system and it is not generating email automatically so our case has been sent to the supervisor with a load of other cases to generate email manually. I was told this process will take 2-3 weeks

They are unwilling to revert back to snail mail

WHY ME??!!!!!

Yes, I agree. I am so tired of the run-around from this whole immigration process.

If they would just receive the papers so I knew that they were there... OMG.... then they can just send the K-3 stuff to CR. OMG my nerves are shot

I feel for you. I know the frustration.

Jenn and Sarita - I guess it is really because of the system change.. The BIG QUESTION is.. Why didn't they created something like back ups or additional temporary workers to do the usual snail mail process while coping up with system change slowly? Why do people need to suffer? Why we are all LUCKY enough to experience all of these.. VSC then NVC... Hope our nightmares would be over soon..

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

Sorry Serendipity and Esposadetucho!! It definitely has to be frustrating.

Serendipity - It might be worth submitting the packet 3 to the Mumbai consulate, and before you pay any fees for the K-3, you can try and get your CR-1 case compelte at NVC. WaitHatter has had luck with getting the interviews flipped at the Mumbai consulate.

Esposadetucho - Did you reply back to your senator with the requested informatio, so that they can follow-up?

Aruba - Any updates on your case review??

Hang in there everyone, and no jumping off of ledges!!!!

Jenn, I hope they sort out the mess quickly. It surely must suck to have the light at the end of the tunnel so clearly visible and yet seeming so out of reach.

My K3 file made it to NVC yesterday. I got my case number today but was given the usual 2-4 week ####### for the case to be transferred to the consulate. With the current NVC delays for IR-1/CR-1 and the fact that I currently happen to be in India (without ready access to my US mail) I think we will just go ahead with the K3 and forget about IR-1/CR-1.

Time to start bugging the consulate to see if they have an interview date for my wife (praying of course that we don't get put in AP at NVC).

Que, that was the first thing I did when I got to work this morning. I copied the approval letters and I faxed them to the senators office. Obviously there is no urgency for them. Ducumentum is down so I can't get any work done here at work today. I'm about to go and call my husband. If I call the senators office, he will just dodge my call... I should use another name so he takes my call.

Once they sign my freakin' files in at NVC then it will get sent to CR pretty fast. Then my husband can make the interview appt when he picks up packet 3. If he can hussle and get his medical and police report done then we can be finished rather quickly but this ####### with my papers being out in LIMBO LAND is BS. The slowest BULK mail service doesn't take 2 weeks to go to a neigboring state. Maybe I will call NVC again.
