Hi

I am interested to know what exactly to do about the engagement ring, because i proposed to my Fiance through online now shall i send it to her through FedEx or just wait for her to get here or the U.S Embassy will ask her on her interview why shes not wearing her engagement ring? Is that a big deal if shes not having it? Any suggestion i will appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Does she really need it ASAP? I mean, you're already engaged... :) Can't she just get it prior to the Interview? You're not going to see her before the interview? I've read posts on VJ where the OP said it was not a problem she/he didn't have the ring yet. Some people even take them off cuz the embassy is in a unsafe area of the city(robbery). She can def. go to the interview without the ring! It's not like they don't know you two met online....

My advice is be very careful sending valuable item to Philippines. My fiance now husband sent me an engagement Diamond ring before but the customs won't release it they asked 40,000 pesos from me and even told me that every week they will increase the amount! when infact my husband paid everything here in US.We were so angry and decided just to move on and forget the ring. It's not a big deal at the embassy if she won't have any.The important is you are both ready and you got plenty of evidence of relationship.Goodluck to both of you.

Not that it's required, but why don't you go and give it to her in person in Mexico City before she returns to PI? Will you be going to visit her in the PI before she has the interview?

Do some reading in the PI regional forum to learn the key K1 issues.

Best of luck in the K1 journey!

I think it is so cool that you got to meet your Pinay relatively close to home, in Mexico. Now, If you REALLY start Jonesing, Send her a plane ticket to Tijuana and just walk across the Border from San Diego to have lunch with her, and slip a ring on her dedo. ;)

yeah, i'd wait and give it to her in person - much more memorable than a FedEx package.

And....(some people might find this offensive, so I apologize)...if she's worried about the 'appearance' of not having a ring at the interview, she could just go get something cheap and cheerful and wear it as a place keeper (so to speak). Somewhat disingenuous I know, but if you are really worried about them giving her a hard time for no ring then that might be a way forward

Besides, you don't NEED a ring to be engaged, plenty of people choose not to have rings...and the embassy staff know that (at least I hope they know that).

NOOOOO!!! Don't ever do that! The consul never even paid attention to my engagement ring! They know the extent of the risks of sending jewelry here and yes the Philippines is a HOT LIST for fraud and scams. Don't be a victim. The engagement ring is not necessary and it won't even assure you of an approval. Wait til you're together. Trust me, it won't make a difference. In the Philippines, an e-ring is not a requirement.

I went today for my interview, they didn't mentioned anything about Engagament ring. Wait until she arrives there for giving it to her it is more romantic face to face, not thru the courier.
