Depends on how long your AOS takes before you get your greencard, i would assume 6 months.

You can however apply for AP if she wanted to go earlier....

Our AOS took two months from filing. We got the green card approval before the AP.

(Read the FAQs & Guides above.) You MUST marry within 90 days of the entry date that's stamped on her I-94 at POE. It's recommended that you file for AOS (together with AP & EAD) as soon as possible after you marry. The other posters are accurate that, if your AP file is complete and can be processed normally, her AP document will be sent to her approximately two months after her biometrics are complete. If she leaves the U.S. before AP or the green card is in hand, she will be denied re-entry into the U.S.

AllanPoe this isnt directed at you mate just a general observation ...

Always amazes me how we try so darn hard to get the visa to be with our loved ones but on the other hand almost daily someone wants to know how long before they can get out to visit family, friends, the pet dog etc ...

My fiance and I have already warned each other ... for the next 6months after I arrive, were gonna be glued together!! We aint letting each other out of each others sight for a moment ... well I guess he can go to work or to the bathroom or something

Ailing family members, pregnancy etc. Plus as someone who has just been through it, despite how much I love my husband, the first 5 months, not working, none of my own friends, no driving licence - the first trip home, was really appreciated.

Ohh I get all that, Ive been reading up on some of the stories in the life in America forum and my heart goes out to them no doubt Im going to go thru something similar myself, its only normal going to a new country, with new people and different ways... We've tried to prepare ourselves for every possible senario but you cant be ready for everything ...

We wish things could be different and Shay could immigrate to Oz instead but his has commitments and it makes more sense for me to go live in the US instead ... Mum and I are very close and Im going to miss her like no tomorrow but she understands... She immigrated to Oz before I was born and she missed her family to... Im really going to miss my nieces and nephew too, especially Mariah, shes only 8months old and perfect little angel...

Like I said, it was only an observation... seems so strange to want to go home when you've barely arrived but I do understand people have many many reasons ...

You are v right. The first six months is not the best

I wondered that to, thanks Yu&Dan I think I put K1 (AOS) I wasnt sure if it meant status when I entered, or status now (which would be applying for adjustment of status).

Personally I cant wait to go back to Scotland I am hoping for a quick greencard approval as we are trying to save loot by applying for ap & EAD together .

AnnexoxShay your post made me laugh because it reminded me of me, now I have my man 24/7 and my new home travelling home to Scotland means so much to us both, we fly there together and return home to the USA together, I cant wait .
