Question about EAD at POE

Hi,

I just wanted to confirm that if you are coming on a K-1 visa and your POE offers the EAD, it is only good until you get married, correct? Once you get married, you can no longer work on that EAD and you need to file for AOS along with another EAD and advancement of parole, right?

11/22/08 - Still waiting on I-601 Waiver (16 months)

12/23/08 - Yilmaz received approval letter for his waiver in mail!!!

03/18/09 - 2nd IV interview in Ankara

03/18/09 - Visa approved. Will be sent via UPS to his home address

03/25/09 - Received visa at home address

04/18/09 - Arrival in U.S.!!!!!!

05/21/09 - Married on the beach in Hawaii

07/12/09 - Mailed AOS papers via FedEX

7/18/09 - NOA for AOS/EAD/AP

7/30/09 - I-485 transferred to CSC

8/19/09 - Biometrics appointment @ 11 AM---COMPLETED

8/30/09 - AP approved (recieved 2 hard copies in mail on 9/5/09)

9/08/09 - EAD card received in the mail

10/16/09 - Touch from CSC

11/09/09 - Card production ordered

10/05/11 - Filed Removal of Conditions

07/31/12 - Removal of conditions APPROVED, card issued

The only POE that offered the Temporary EAD was JFK (New York) but am not certain even they do that now (as of beginning of the year). It would be good for only 90 days (the length of time the I-94 would be).

Best to get married - file AOS (and EAD) as soon as possible in order to obtain a 'real' one-year EAD. :thumbs:

Actually, as of June 1, 2009 NO temp EADs will be valid, regardless of where they're stamped. That was shared with me in another thread. Bummer.

Angela got her EAD at JFK in January. It is valid until end of validity of the K-1 visa, i.e. 90 days after entry into the US.

Actually, as of June 1, 2009 NO temp EADs will be valid, regardless of where they're stamped. That was shared with me in another thread. Bummer.

October 5, 2006: We meet for the first time!

March 8, 2008: I-129F K1-Fiancee Visa Application mailed

October 27, 2008: K1 VISA RECEIVED !! (233 days - 7 MONTHS 19 DAYS)

January 17, 2009: Entry - POE: JFK w/EAD (315 days)

February 6, 2009: WEDDING! (335 days)

March 24, 2009: Sent AOS, EAD, AP package to Chicago Lock box (381 days - 1 YEAR 16 DAYS)

June 30, 2009: Interview in San Jose, CA (479 days) - NOT approved, Sworn statement required

AUGUST 14, 2009: GREEN CARD IN HAND (524 days - 1 YEAR 5 MONTHS 6 DAYS)

May 31, 2011: Sent I-751 Removal of Conditions package (1179 days - 3 YEARS 2 MONTHS 23 DAYS)

January 25, 2012: 10-Year Green Card Received (1418 days - 3 YEARS 10 MONTHS 17 DAYS)

If you have the temp EAD then it is good until it expires (90 days after entry). Marrying doesn't affect the EAD.

I got mine through JFK January 8th of 2009.

Oh, I thought that once you got married your temp. EAD was no longer good. But, I guess it doesn't matter if they are no longer issuing the temp. EAD. We were originally going to go through JFK since they had issued in the past, but Philadelphia is so much closer, I just didn't think it would be worth the travel time. Especially now, since they may not even issue the temp. EAD.

Can anyone confirm they are no longer doing it?
