I was wondering if my fiance's K1 visa interview will be in Merida or in Juarez. All along I was thinking that his interview would be in Merida but from other people's posts it seems like all of the interviews are in Juarez. Does anyone know if all interviews are in Juarez?

Thanks so much! I saw that the Juarez website says that you get the visa the same day in some cases and in other cases it comes a week later. Juarez is very far away from Merida and if my fiance got the visa the day he went to the interview he could just come on from there to the US. Is there any way of planning for this? Will we know ahead of time if he is going to get the visa the same day? If I went to Juarez with him would they allow me to go in with him to the interview?

There is no way to plan for (no crystal ball) getting the visa the same day - no way to know ahead of time anyway. A US Citizen can not attend the interview (according to the Embassy Information section) but that doesn't stop you from being close by.

It is not possible for you to attend the interview in Juarez. You can be outside but you aren't allowed into the visa area if you are a US citizen. The procedure for issuing visas in Juarez was the same day and they were returned before leaving the consulate. As of Nov. of last year they started a new process where they are using DHL to "issue" passports back with visas. After the interview and if approved, you will be directed to the DHL window inside the consulate where they will give you a tracking number for your package. After leaving the consulate, he needs to check online or by phone to see when it is ready. Then you will have to travel to one of the DHL offices(not back to the consulate) to pick it up. They are still saying that it should be ready the same day but for most it's been the next day. There was just a post in the Juarez forum where the travel plans were messed up by this new procedure because they booked a flight back very early in the morning the day after the interview but they didn't get their visa the same day. It cost them a lot to change flights and buy another night in the hotel. We are going to the consulate on a Tuesday but we reserved the hotel through Wed night and a flight back on Thursday afternoon in case we still need to go to the DHL office Thursday morning. I hope this works out for us. This new system makes it difficult to plan the travel but I would book and extra night or two because it's cheaper to do it up front. I haven't heard of any recent K1 or K3 visas that took a week to get in Juarez. Perhaps those were for other types of cases or waiver paperwork.
