Hi Everyone,

Another question from Miffy. When I tried to locate a surgeon for I-693 several came up. Should we pick one who is the closest to our home ? Is it ok if we pick one in NYC which is the farthest geographically but the most convenient since I go to NYC all the time? :help:

its your choice really...you could choose the one that's the cheapest or the one that is closer to you. you should consider choosing one that is closer to you because from my experience, they sometimes need you to come in multiple times. i chose the one that was the cheapest but he also happened to be the closest to me.

you could do it before or right after..just so u have it when u are ready to send in your package. i would do it to get it out of the way because sometimes it takes quite a while for them to get it done and sometimes you may need to do additional blood tests and whatever that can only extend the time.

Also, keep in mind that a lot of these doctors will try to make you and do the whole physical and exam again; that's the problem we had. Every single doctor we called would only do the form with the condition of having to go thru all blood tests, physical exam etc. Then we came across Dr. Arnold who for 30 dollars, does the 693 and she does it over the mail....of course don't know the details of your case, but if you just need somebody to transcribe the records and you don't need any of the additional blood work, do a search for dr. arnold. Plenty of posts on the subject.

I concur with ikarus. Most Civil Surgeons are Civil Surgeons because they want easy access to new patients (no need to advertise, the government is doing it for them!), and more importantly they want your money.

Here in the SF Bay Area, the CS wanted $190 for the medical exam and another $25 for the vaccination form, plus any additional immunizations (like Td-ap at $65). If I had listened to them, I would have paid $280.

By going to the County Health Department for immunizations and Dr. Arnold in Texas for the vaccination form, I ended up paying $77.50 for everything.
