Hello VJers,

I'm in the process of filing for my fiancee's K1 visa application and the one thing i'm curious about is her Middle Name. my Fiancee's middle name is actually her mother's maiden name. Now on my fiancee's birth certificate, it says middle name and then lists her mother's maiden name.

Do i use this middle name on the I-129F application or should I leave it blank since it's not a real middle name?

thanks in advance for your input!

Take care,

Al

Yup thats how it is in the Philippines, your middle name is your mother's maiden name. My husband(then fiance) put my mothers maiden name as my middle name on the I-129F petition. Everything went ok.

Hi sha&al...welcome to Visa Journey.

Her middle name is most likely her mother's maiden name (last name). Why not ask her?

My fiancée's middle name is her mother's maiden name too. My fiancée told me this is the custom in the Philippines.

the first two responses above me are both correct. our middle names in pi is automatically the maiden surname of our mother/s unlike in US (your country) the parents choose whatever middle name your heart desires. Such discovery for me so that since i have two names (besides my moms maiden name as my current middle name) my SO has emphasized that my middle name after marriage will be my current second name which i refuse because its customary in pi that after marriage, she adopts her husbands family name and use her current surname as now the middle name.

confuse eh? in a nutshell:

middle name: moms maiden name

middle name after marriage: family surname

That's how my honey explained it to me. She's got her mother's maiden name now, and after making me the happiest man EVER...she'll then use her current last name as the middle name.

Moving on w/life

Why don't you just ask your fiancee if she wants to keep it. Tell her it is not a problem if she wants to do so.

I'm the USC and my middle name is my mother's maiden name. It always has been and it is my real middle name.

My name is Patricio Sinuto Antimano

mother's name : Carmelita Sinuto Antimano nee: Carmelita Grospe Sinuto ( + RIP ). other uses of middle name is middle initial

now my wife is Michelle Cruz Ventura

mother's name : Emma Mangalindan Cruz

:::: supposedly Michelle will use Ventura as her middle name during our wedding but she chose

officially she uses MICHELLE CRUZ-ANTIMANO - she opted not to use middle name anymore. She had to prove that Cruz is present when she filed for naturalization papers here otherwise she could have not use it.

now, the confusion is two first names which sometimes mistaken it for middle name.
