Maybe my husband isn't so good with esoteric Danish or maybe it is because he isn't Christian, but I was wondering if one of the other Danes could contribute?

They would like "Be the teaching" or the equivalent translated into Danish for the purposes of a tattoo and by the teaching, they mean I think Jesus' teachings. We had debated it for a while but could find nothing close that sounded right.

It's partly up to you, how fast you get your stuff together.

But also with stockholm It really depends on the time of year, they are often quite efficient. Around holidays and summer vacations it can take quite a while. I've seen anywhere between 3 weeks to almost 3 months.

Noa 1 August 15th 2011

You should get an interview date right after, yes. If you're ready to go, I would email them as soon as they have the packet and tell them you're available on short notice. GandK got an interview date with a short notice.

The time it takes for K-1 really depends how back logged the service centers are in getting your approved I-130 actually sent to the NVC, and then for the NVC to punch it into their system. In my case it took about 3 weeks from the NOA2 til NVC received it, another 2 days til I got a case number.

For me it's bad. Not quite as bad as I made it out to be... then again it's only April.Just because your husband and I come from the same greater region (Scandinavia) doesn't mean your husband will perish like I will, though. Västerås is just west of Stockholm. May not seem much different from Denmark, but it is different.

Humidity is killer, I agree. It's humid here pretty much all year round, but it never really gets above low 80s. When it does get up into the mid 80s though, it's horrible. I can't imagine what it's like on the east coast in the summer!

Nola, congrats on finally bringing over your Dane!!

I see your POE was Boston the day after..hopefully went smooth still!

I just got myself a promotion at my job. Staying put on this island for the foreseeable future.

Welcome all you newcomers!!

Congrats on the promotion!

Yeah, the secondary in Boston was overflowing, which was quite rare for them based on the comments. It wasn't too bad, it just took a terribly long time. They didn't even notice that my husband's visa says he is Swedish. Oops? The country of birth was Denmark though...

Things are going great so far, the Dane had a job interview within 24 hours of arriving and is working. We've been working non-stop since we got here planting vegetables and on clearing out my other house. It has actually been kind of cold, which is good for his sake. The high today is only 7 C!

I think he gets unsettled by people talking to him at random in lines and things. He hasn't learned the polite way to get people to shut up when they are rambling.

Oh and he hates driving my truck and longs for a tiny manual car. LOL! I think he'll end up getting my mother's Volvo XC70 though, which he doesn't mind driving.

A weird thing that I didn't notice, but he seems to think that we all drive new cars or old beaters, but he didn't realize that many of the "new" cars were like 2002s? I don't recall that 10 year old cars had lost their shine in Denmark, but he seems to think it is weird that they are still so shiny.

Thanks! It was a relieving nail in the coffin. I've been looking for sings on what to do, and that was really what I needed. I'm staying here in Hawaii. No California, no Norway.

My wife and I are filing for legal separation next month.. Waiting a divorce out to see if separation will work some wonder.

Having a job I actually enjoy and see a career prospect in has been incredibly helpful, and I'm honestly happier than I've been in a while. I've accepted the facts as they are, and feel like I at least have something to settle on. (I've been "unsettled" for years now going through deciding on where to live, immigration, martial issues etc.) This island paradise to me was hell for a while, but I'm finally beginning to make friends outside of my wife's social circle. I'm starting to feel a sense of home here. Now, next on my list is to find a place to live and a car with a lack of credit. We're both moving out of this apt in a couple weeks, wife is keeping the car, but (said) she would help me out on a down payment for a car.

Ironically - I work in a jewelry store, and get to mingle with boyfriends/girlfriends, engaged and married couples all day

I feel I can laugh at it now. This past year has been the most turbulent nightmare ever, and I just feel incredible relief. At everything, even though it didn't play out the way I had hoped.

As for cars - I can't speak for Denmark, but Norway has a really beat up old car park. New cars are really expensive, and the climate is very damaging to cars' appearance. So you end up with mostly old beat up cars, or newer cars that look beat up.
