I've always translated everything myself, along with a little thing at the bottom:

"I, [my name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and Norwegian languages, and that the above document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled [document name]."

And signed/dated it.

Married since 03/02/2011, AOS from F-1 visa, green card granted 05/24/2011.
Blessed with a healthy baby boy, 08/19/2011! We get to keep our family together! Thank you! smile.png

My wife and I are going to New York City in the middle of May. Neither one of us has been there before... but I'm mostly excited because I have a bunch of family coming over from Sweden. I have a cousin who goes to school in (I think) the Bronx and he graduates college in May, so that's the occasion, so to speak. I'm very much looking forward to seeing my family members again, when we see them it will be almost exactly since months since I saw them last. My parents are coming back to Pittsburgh with me and my wife, I can't wait to show them my new home. Also, my (maternal) grandparents may be coming to America too (if only grandpa can convince grandma it's worth the long time on the plane). I really hope he can convince her, I would love to see them again. They aren't that old, they are in their mid 70's... but still. And I do think they would like coming to Pittsburgh, grandpa especially. My aunt was an au pair here in the 1990's, so they have actually been here before, and I do think they would like to come back. So fingers crossed.

Aaaah, NYC is AMAZING! I love that city!!! Go see a Broadway show while you're there (I saw Wicked twice last time I went, lol...). I also randomly ran into a Norwegian tourist couple in the Virgin Megastore. XD

I don't think there will be any Broadway shows. Next time. We're only going to get there Friday evening and head back home to Pittsburgh the following Monday morning. It's more about family than NYC really.

We're probably going to go on some sort of tour around Manhattan. My wife wants to go see the 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero, and I would like to see Ellis Island (especially now since I'm an immigrant myself, y'know). But if we don't have time for it I can wait. Not like New York is going away.

Lol, that was my priority last time I was there. Drove in on Friday, saw two shows on Saturday, and drove back on Sunday. XD But yes, NYC isn't going anywhere. But definitely go back soon as you can!

I grew up in New York, but I'm not a Broadway fan.

Personally, I've always preferred walking around, listening to the competing live traditional Chinese music in a park, an interesting restaurant, etc. A lot of the tourist stuff in New York is way overblown (this being said by someone who sang with a man in a Godzilla costume in the observatory of the Empire State building on Japanese TV).

Ellis Island and Liberty Island usually take some time and you might appreciate it more when you are alone or have more time.

Well if you grew up there...

For me personally, I want to see the tourist-y stuff. Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Central Park, Times Square etc etc... That's what I've seen in movies and television, I want to see that stuff in real life too. Then when I have seen it, I can go about finding other stuff. I don't necessarily need to go up in the Statue of Liberty, just to name one example, but at least I want to see it (I hate waiting in line and I'm not waiting for hours to go up, take a peek and go back down again, besides, I'm afraid of heights).

That said, I don't want to just rush through things just to be able to say I've seen it either. If we go to Ground Zero or the Guggenheim, we're gonna take enough time to check it out thoroughly. So that's why we will probably plan to see one or two things, and save the rest for a future visit. Knock one thing off the list at a time, so to speak.

I went there in January, love it! But we were sick 2 out of 4 days so that was a little sad. I have been there a few times before many years ago and did see a Broadway show then. Would love to again, but it's so darn expensive too! (or do someone have some tips?)

We did Top of the Rock (Rockefeller center) this time, I would absolutely suggest you do that instead of Empire State, the view you get is much better. And then you can look at Empire State from the ground ha ha!

hello again!

apparently this has recently been mentioned/discussed in this thread but after an hour of searching I thought I would risk being annoying and ask it again (sorry in advance!)

I would like to accompany my husband (the beneficiary) to the embassy in Stockholm (NOT specifically be present in the interview, but wait somewhere in the embassy while he completes it) is this allowed?

thanks so much.

I actually just got an email back about 10 minutes ago about this. It seems that we will be allowed, but they said we will have to sit down while our spouse is being interviewed.

Oh and EEEEKKK our interview is 2 days away! :o
