Apparently the ROC process is a whole lot "easier" than most other processes here. You're not being asked to prove your relationship from scratch again, you've already proved that by submitting an I-130, and going to an AOS or visa interview. You're already deemed legitimate.

Rather, you're now re-affirming it, and this time, it's the USCIS' burden of proof to prove that you're not a legitimate couple.

Most jointly filed ROC applications are approved without an interview. Even a lot of divorce waiver ROC cases are approved without an interview.

You won't be denied unless the USCIS has enough red flags and warnings to confidently deny your application. In essence, the USCIS must approve every application that doesn't trigger red flags. Not having a joint bank account may look suspicious, but isn't a deal breaker of any kind of you have other indicators that you do in fact live together and share bills. They only look for joint bank accounts because trusting each other with money is seen as a strong indicator of a valid marriage.

I'm so sorry for you JayJay, that is truely what I call being stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have absolutely nothing to say that would help, just the simple "that sucks, big time".

DCF -I payed in Swedish crowns back in the day. I believe, because there's no way I had dollars laying around at that time :)

Yeah, I think once they email us the interview info, we'll email them back and ask. It is just the same amount of irritating to get Swedish money as American, so yeah. Someone said they could use American debit cards at the London Embassy, but I have a feeling that it won't be the case in Stockholm.

So, you can use cards at the embassy.

We've ordered 342 sek of stamps from the Swedish post to be mailed here and hopefully get here in time.

Our interview is at 9 am on March 20th, we finish up the medical here at maybe 2:30 pm? Then it is a 9 hour drive there. Fun!

Hi Scandinavians! Sorry if this has been answered, I'm in a bit of a rush! Last docs my Norwegian husband and I needed to send to NVC were the police records, mine came in English, my husband's in Norwegian (he had a fine, we asked if they could write it in English and they said no). I just wonder since our embassy/interview will be in Sweden if we should pay to get them translated (such similar languages...) or if we can translate it ourselves to English, OR if they will accept them in Norwegian anyway. Thanks for any help!!

Thanks, I did take a look at that, but it states his was "totally available" in English (no record, mine was as well) but since my husband's had 2 fines on it, they refused to do it in English and therefore we would need to pay a certified translator or state that we translated it ourselves.

Raheelp, have you seen these threads? :

Does my police record need to be translated?

Looks like you don't need to translate but you can do it yourself. You can always call the NVC and also contact the IV unit in Stockholm because they process three different countries/languages.

The stamps from Posten came in about 3 days - I highly recommend ordering them online for anyone else waiting for an interview who is not from Sweden.

Quick question - our interview is in March 20th, think we will be safe to book a flight around April 20th if all goes well at the interview? We are going to book one you can reschedule, but a month sounds reasonable as long as somebody remembers to sign their DS-230 Part II, right? ;)

As the Norwegian mentioned above, I can give some more insight into my case beyond the review :) As the review states, I had to provide the certificate in English. The thing is, the person actually interviewing me almost let my translation pass, and told me they accept "self-translated" documents all the time. She actually had a long discussion with the Swede who had rejected my translation, but had to give in.

But given that the police can not provide you with a certificate in English, I see no reason why they would not accept your own translation - Especially since they have your certificate in English to compare it to.
