Give them a call! See if you have to wait until the interview is scheduled or not.

In Stockholm the doc recommended me to book it when we got a case closed at NVC so we wouldn't feel stressed. The medical is valid for a year unless u got a condition of some kind, then it's 6 months.

I'll have him call later this week.

I just called USCIS for the first time in my life. Eh. I am annoyed because the embassy spelled my wife's name wrong at some point. Today I got two notices of action (basically saying the production of my green card has been ordered) and my wife's name is still spelled wrong. I don't know why. She sent in copies of her birth certificate and passport when we started this whole process.

I first talked to one person but he couldn't do nothing to change it, so I got transferred. A woman got my info and said someone will call me back within 48 to 72 hours.

It has been really hard to get a hold of an ISO lately. I called so many times trying to get one. I don't take the call back option though (mostly on account of the Skype phone).

You haven't gotten your greencard yet Bork? I arrived a few weeks after you and I got it last week, I think 8 days after POE.

I'm right now dealing with a whole lot of frustration. We are right now living with a friend of mine, while they are absolutely adorably nice, it is stressful to live with someone else. Since my husband has almost exclusively had jobs where he drives for a living he has been looking into those for here too. Only to find out that we need to have lived here for 30 days to be able to get a license in Texas since his Minnesota license has expired. I have been hired but don't start until the 13th of feb. And to get an apartment, in the area where we want one, requires quite a bit of background checking and of course a few paystubs.

I got lucky enough to get a good hourly pay straight off the bat, but... don't start working for awhile yet. We were hoping to be out in early March, but that's just looking a bit negative right now.I basically just need to vent cus its bugging the heck out of me. He can't apply for a job until he has a Texas license, and there might be issues with the driving record since he's been in Sweden for the last five years so it might be hard for him to get a job... GAAH! I mean okay, we had a bit of money saved up but a lot went to the application process and then we've bought a car since we got here. We're going to have to buy another one by the time we actually start working and I get a license (haven't driven a car in my life).

Okay - recap... grumpy and frustrated over money, living situation and driving. Sigh.

Sorry... just really had to vent to someone other than the hubby

Vent away, it sounds super frustrating!

Have any of you used the doctors in Aarhus for the medical? My husband is worried about how much advanced notice they need for an appointment.

Nola :)

I did. There's one called Anne(if I remember correctly). I booked mine about a month ahead of time. You can always ask if they have a cancellation that you can take over. I know when I had mine, they said around 1½ month notice.

It is an easy exam. The xray takes place at a different location(within walking distance), and xray fee is paid in cash at one location, and the medical is paid(in cash)at the other facility. Anne automaticcaly gave me a copy of the vaccination sheet. I know you're going through CR-1 but it won't hurt to have a copy of it.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

I'll probably report Utflytning when I go home this May. I'm certainly not doing it until we can get insurance here, but we should be able to by then.NAV's website isn't loading for me at the moment, so I can't get to the page where I thought I read about it, but I'll try to find it. Basically, it said if I move back to Norway with the intent of staying for more than 12 months, I'm immediately a member again.

Just got a letter in the mail today from Skatteetaten.. To my US address.

The letter doesn't make much sense to me at all. It has two pages.. I attached the first one.. The second one is just general information.

Does this mean I'm officially "emigrated"? Does it mean they're processing it?

Looks fairly clear to me. They have registered your move to the U.S. You can appeal it if you think it was made in error. I got a similar letter from the Swedish Skatteverket after I had moved.

It's three years from the date your entered on the CR1. You can submit paperwork starting 90 days before the three year mark

Thanks. It just seemed so simple.. lol

Rarasantiago is right. The date on your green card under "Resident since" is when you officially became an LPR, regardless of whether you're CR-1 or IR-1. As long as you're still married to the original petitioner, you can submit your N-400 up to 90 days before the 3 year anniversary of your POE.

I think they do, but Denmark doesn't :(

They did mention something about changing that in the future, but nothing on the books yet.

I'm gonna get a state ID. Do I need to carry my green card on me? Or is it better to keep it in a safe place?

Last year the Danish government said they'd support dual citizenship and it would be looked at this past Fall, but it got delayed and is supposed to be considered by the government this year. It's come up before in the past, but last year when I was there it seems like this time it might actually go through.

Bork, you're not "supposed" to leave it anywhere; it says to always keep it on you. However, considering the hassle if you lose it, I know a lot of VJ members keep it in a fire safe for instance, and instead carry a copy.

...I carry the card itself because that's just how things have worked out for me, and I don't have any other ID besides my passport. When I get my driver's license I'll probably start carrying a copy and leave the original at home.

Married since 03/02/2011, AOS from F-1 visa, green card granted 05/24/2011.
Blessed with a healthy baby boy, 08/19/2011! We get to keep our family together! Thank you! smile.png

That would be awesome. There is nothing like being done with US immigration forever, rather than having to renew the greencard every so often.
