I'm not sure really, I know that they always ask us to go in the Citizens line if I'm with my husband and if I travel by myself it's visitors line as I don't have my Green card yet !!! And as far as I remember it says Citizens and cardholders in the same line!!!

Take it easy on your last week in Sweden... Enjoy the snow as there hasn't been a lot of it over here!! B-)

Yay, you'll be here soon. Look for visitor or new immigrant line. Just in case you haven't read the POE reviews here's the link to Newark's : http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php?trim=no&poe=Newark&page=2&dfilter=0

Yeah I thought I'd find someone to ask.

I will absolutely pack the envelope in my carry on. I have a backpack in which I plan on putting my computer, two harddrives, camera and the important papers.

Is there a "Post your random rant here" thread here at VJ?

I have not been sleeping well lately. For the last 10-12 days or so, I've been waking up at ungodly hours. Between 4:15 and 6:15 (I usually get up at 6:40 to go to work).

Last night (Monday night Swedish time) I hung up on MSN after chatting with my wife at like 9:45 in the evening (3:45 New York/Pittsburgh time). I swear to god I fell asleep within ten minutes after logging out on the computer.

At 11:48, the phone rings. It's my brother. I was shell shocked. I felt like I imagine you feel if you wake up in the middle of the night cause the fire alarm goes off and the house is on fire.

"I'm having this debate with a girl. Who was worse, Hitler or Stalin?"

I was too dazed to believe what I was hearing. Are you effing kidding me? I mumbled something like I was too tired to think and I couldn't really say who was worse, Hitler or Stalin. He was like "OK, I'll let you get back to what you were doing, sleeping or whatever."

Geez, thanks a lot little brother. Man I need to get out of this place. Sunday can't come soon enough.

And now I can't go back to sleep. Great!

The effer who gives my brother my new number or my wife's number is effing dead. I am so not even kidding about that. Dead. D.E.A.D. dead

Getting closer!

Interview scheduled january 10 Th.

Would it be stupid to buy a oneway ticket the 18 or 19 Th january?

Its a full week after the interview, or could you even swing by the embassy and pick it up?

Im trying to figure out the processing time here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/wait/wait_4788.html?post=Stockholm&x=56&y=4

but I cant make out the wait time for K1 visas.

No you can't pick it up at the embassy.

Most often a week is enough to get your passport back, however lately they have been slacking plus they might be back logged since its just after the holidays. I would give it at least 2 weeks, just to be on the safe side.

Oh ok, picking it up would've been great though.

Well thats annoying that it might take more than a week, I guess I just have to gamble, flights are cheap if you buy them now, than closer to my preferred departure date

Yeah. This is not something you want to risk, in my opinion. Better to be safe than sorry. Don't risk throwing it all away when you are so close to the goal, you can stand to wait another week.

Agree with Alaska and Borkstrom. One week is usually enough time but by no means a guarantee of any kind. Lately, it seems the norm has been around 10 - 14 days. However, if the embassy needs anything extra from you, it'll be longer too..

You can't pick it up at the embassy, and you will not get a refund if you don't get it on time. I would not book any flight until your visa and passport are in your hand.

I was in your same predicament last month - I waited 4 weeks to receive my visa in hand.

Tickets booked! Leaving on the 10th of January. Scary. Trying to clean up and box up now. Last 2 weeks will be spent at my parents house for some quality "mum time". I got my passport back really quickly, interview on the Tuesday and arrived in the mail on the Friday, but I would NOT be counting on that quick of a send off. Obviously I didn't and it screwed me slightly ;)

Didn't think about the fact that my monthly pay for December would be lower since I have my last shift on the 26th and nearly had a heart attack when I opened the paystub today... Good thing I'm not paying rent this month!

@Bork - the sales manager for the store I'll most likely be going to when I get over has the last name Stalin... me and my mother have had intense discussions about why you would keep that name.
