Hey guys! I was woken up this morning by a phone call from the embassy in Oslo! The lady said "Hi, we just got your visa package from the embassy in Stockholm. You forgot to sign DS-230 part 2. Are you in Oslo now? If so, we have your visa package here, you can come pick it up and sign DS-230 part 2 today at 2:30!"

I'm still shaking.

You don't think all of this delay was because of not signing, do you?

I absolutely think it was. The visa was issued right after the interview, but the supervisor at the IV unit couldn't approve the visa stamp because DS-230 part 2 wasn't signed. I bet you they've spent the last three weeks trying to figure out how to solve it without having to call me and say "hey could you come back to Stockholm?"

I think they found a great solution by mailing it to the Oslo embassy - I just wish they could have sent me an email about this 3 weeks ago. I have prayed, drank and used a whole lot more snus than normal this past month, and my entire extended family and social circle now think I'm some whiny nerve wrack

Just got back from the embassy in Oslo! Sitting at home with my passport in one hand and the brown envelope in the other. this is surreal!!!

I got to the embassy in Oslo. And the CO said "we've been waiting for you!" She actually said "this is going to sound really strange, but my colleague is going to prepare an envelope for you, and you cannot open it! If you do, you have to go back to Stockholm!" In the back of my mind I'm thinking "Thank you, I know." But all I could blurt out was "I'll make sure, I don't wanna go back to Stockholm!"

I got some insight as to what the hold up was. The CO I spoke to in Oslo was the same CO who had prepared my file in Stockholm 3 and a half weeks ago. She said Stockholm was short staffed and a bunch of COs had flown in from Oslo to aid in visa processing. In addition, for the case to be sent from Stockholm to Oslo, it has to go through DC first. She apologized for the delay, and told me with a smile "Stockholm told me you've been bugging them."

It was so surreal I actually asked her if she could tape up the envelope one more time, just so it didn't open

Wow, can't believe they just didn't tell you that was the issue. At least they made up for it by sending it to Oslo for you to pick up. Happy reunification with your wife  !!

Finally! You had so much bad luck with your application - I felt I waited long, but compared to you my journey has been smooth sailing. Congratulations :)

Thanks! Apparently, Stockholm won't tell you what Oslo is doing, Oslo won't tell you what Stockholm is doing. DOS will tell you the visa is issued, but not what either Oslo or Stockholm are doing. Neither Stockholm nor Oslo told DOS that a signature was missing. So from it was sent from Stockholm, and was couriered via Washington DC to Oslo, no one actually had authority to tell me what was going on.It was basically a 3 week long black hole stemming from one missing signature!

It doesn't matter. The CO who called me this morning and prepared the brown envelope in front of my eyes is my unsung hero of this process.

Thanks. My NOA1 date was Feb 6th. POE Dec 6th. 10 months total  Doesn't matter. I haven't seen my wife in 2 months, haven't worked in 4 months and been living in limbo for a year. 2012 has definitely been one of the worst years ever, but with a positive outcome. All that matters now is that we're DONE.

Wow. Hope you're all ok and that the saffron didn't spill!

Congrats JayJay! I've been following your progress. It's annoying when it wasn't your mistake but theirs, the signing I mean. Glad to see you're getting on your way now.

Thanks!

I actually don't blame the CO for this mistake. There was an entire sailing crew of over 40 people interviewing for some type of non-immigrant visa on the same day. I think only one other IV case. There was only one CO interviewing that day. The poor woman had probably done 30 sailor visas (or whatever visa they applied for) before me that morning and simply forgot. I would have probably went on autopilot and done the same thing. I'm mostly annoyed that I went the last 2 weeks not knowing why it was delayed.

Make sure you sign DS-230 part 2 on your interview and all will be well!

Congrats Jay Jay!

On another subject:

Do you book your interview online via the stockholm embassy web page yourself?

I havent got the packet3 yet, (snowstorm right now) but I have all the pappers already filled in.

It seems like I can use the barcode from the DS-156 and book an appointment with, but maybe I should wait?

Anyone know if thats whats stated in the packet3, to schedule it yourself online?

I would ask member GandK! He got a K-1 in Stockholm. I know GandK never received his packet 3, but still got an interview very quickly somehow.
