Try singing the word. Seems to be easier to pronounce when heard in a song.

Anyways! Just a little warning to all Danes planning to move or have moved: Please please please remember to take the time and report it through here; https://www.borger.dk/Sider/Flyt-til-udlandet.aspx in the green box under "anmeld flytning til udlandet".

I randomly stumpled upon a Dane here in town(what are the odds) and went bowling with him and his family last weekend. He went through the IR-1 route and have been living and working in the US for a year. He also got a neat letter from Skat asking to report the income from that entire year, earned in the US and had to pay Danish taxes of the US income because he'd forgotten to report his move. He got the letter at his US address btw. I have a link in "about me" as well. People entering on K1 have a bit of a longer leash because they technically enter on a non-immigrant visa and don't establish permanent residency rightaway.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

NP! Saves roughly 40-45% of the US income being shaved off out of a sudden.

So I email the embassy on Friday in response to "please contact us in a weeks time if you have not heard from us." My reply was "Just to clarify, is this when I can expect to have my passport, or will I be contacted through phone/email?"

Get a reply today saying "you will be contacted through email."

DOS still insists it was issued two and a half weeks ago.

I know there's not much I can do at this point but wait. But I was already camping by the mail box on day 4 after the interview! Lol

Thanks! I called the DOS again :innocent:

This time I wanted to see if they had an actual date that the visa was issued. The DOS operator's reply was literally "you still haven't received it yet!??" and basically to stop calling them because it's out of their hands, and to start bugging Stockholm.

I'm done bothering the DOS for now lol. I realize the only thing once can do in this process really is to patiently wait, and pretty much every bit of good news comes when you least expect it to.

OK so the realtor came by yesterday to have a loot at my apartment. I got a good vibe, feels like he will do a good job. Plus my uncle knows him so it's good to have that connection. I don't think I'll get screwed. We were on the same page regarding the starting price, which also felt good, I was a little worried he would evaluate it and set the price lower than my expectations. It remains to be seen whether I will get that, though, but at least it feels good where we're at right now.

I've started looking at flights. I have a question. Seeing as how return flights are generally (a lot) cheaper, can I book a return flight or do I have to book a single trip ticket? I mean, I won't be using the return ticket (assuming POE goes according to plan), but maybe I can just cancel the return ticket at a later date after POE? What do you guys think?

Return flight is fine. When I flew with Icelandair, one way was actually cheaper than half of a return but I don't think it will be a problem at all.

I hope your apartment sells quickly - I'm in the same position with my house in America, so I know how that goes. :hehe:

Bork, if it's possible (and still cheaper than a one-way ticket), you might want to consider getting a return ticket with an open return date. That way you can use the return ticket to visit Sweden next time you want to do that
