Woohoo! What a relief, Obama did it!

As a Swede I had a hard time seeing what good Romney would do for the US. He is so far off the right wing he makes moderaterna in Sweden look like vansterpartister!!

We actually call them Obamney. I happen to think they are two faces to the same coin. ;) I voted Libertarian. Romney is actually not conservative enough for me in some categories, but too authoritarian in others. I'd rather get rid of more government and have less regulation, well except on border control. America needs to get on that.

I'm getting a little concerned. Usually a letter/package takes only a week to get to America or back via regular mail. I sent our packet via expres from the Danish post office, but it hasn't updated tracking since last week, when it is was "Forsendelsen er på vej". I understand that they are suppose to scan it when it arrives in America and then when it is delivered, aren't they? It is going to be a week tomorrow, and you'd think that expres mail would be a little quicker, no?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Lately packages from Sweden had taken about 10-12 days to get here, letters still make it within a week but packages takes longer even with express.

Sending stuff from here to Sweden is usually faster. I think it's the post in Europe that works a little bit better. Not too long ago we sent two packages, the exact same size, one to grandma in Sweden and the other to grandma in San Antonio, the one to Sweden took 8 days the one to SA took 3 weeks!!

I asked this in the CR-1/IR-1 forum as well, but would like you guys' input too..

As I stated in my review, I was never asked to "swear to tell the truth" etc., but it just struck me that I never even signed the DS-230 part 2..!? Isn't this supposed to be signed, in front of the CO?

I can't remember if I had to sign anything, it's all very blurry, but I do remember swearing to tell the truth....

I don't know if my experience is applicable since I did K1, but i swore and signed part 2.

If you are worried, you could always try to send them an e-mail and ask if they have sent your passport yet?

I agree. I was very relieved when I woke up fairly early Wednesday morning and saw Obama had at that point secured 285ish electoral votes. I actually didn't sleep well and was very nervous Romney would win.

Speaking of Obama vs. Romney...

When I sent my IV package to the NVC, the girl at the counter at ICA (which is where you send mail with Posten these days) said express mail does nothing for you if you're mailing stuff to America. I don't remember exactly how long it took for my package to get there. Let me check my timeline.

ADD: Can't seem to find it. I know I sent it on June 16. I don't remember when I got confirmation it had been delivered to the NVC I'm afraid.

Same for me. It was basically the first thing of the interview (although finger prints may have been the first thing, I don't remember exactly). I also had to sign Part II of the form. We had a little discussion about how Sweden and America handles first names and middle name differently. lol

I had a little going away party for my closest friends last night. The cool thing is they felt there's still enough time for us to get together again before I leave, which I think was a great idea. I had such a good time last night. I am glad that to call these wonderful people my friends. A couple of them are really intent on coming for a visit in Pittsburgh.

I'm having fiskbullar med hummersås for dinner tonight. I have tried to go through some of the Swedish/Scandinavian food that I will miss, that I don't think will be available in the US. A while ago I had a huge craving for Gustafskorv and it was basically the only thing I put on my sandwiches. Right now I'm going through a bit of a leverpastej och smörgåsgurka period. :D My wife cringes at the mere thought of fiskbullar and leverpastej. lol

I can live without Kalles kaviar. I eat it so rarely that it's not something I'm going to miss. There is the odd occasion when it's good though.

My wife is even more suspicious of Kalles kaviar than she is of leverpastej, fiskbullar and banana on pizza.
