All in all, the medical was a lot less "serious" than I had thought. It was actually over and done sooner than I had expected!

Agree with your review, I was surprised how relaxed the medical was. I had ticked the box saying I had previously used tobacco (snus), but told the doc I had quit a couple of years ago. To my surprise, he decided to change my answer to "No".

I spent 5 minutes with the nurse, and 10 minutes with the doc. Norway could really use a second medical option to create some price competition; 2850 NOK for 15 minutes work (plus the work they do sending the papers to the embassy) feels a bit harsh.

Got my vaccination sheet in the mail 3 days after the medical, and hopefully the paperwork will arrive at the embassy before my interview November 1st.

I don't think the price would be effected by another doc. In Sweden the doctors keep the same prices for this service. But I do agree with you, they rip you off!!

Need your advice fellow scandinavians!

We´re applying for a K1 and looking at another month I think, before approval (hopefully no RFE´s)

So Im really sick of sitting here waiting it out so im thinking going to the states and be with my fiancee and wait it out there.

I got the medical scheduled in advance in about two weeks and also assembled all the documents in advance; military, personbevis, police records etc.

Im going to the states over christmas anyway so I thought why not go already early december (way cheaper flights), after the NOA2 somewhere in November (hopefully).

What I wanna know, and tried to figure out by looking at the statistics, is how long time from NOA2 until you can get an interview scheduled at the embassy in Stockholm?

Im thinking mid january with christmas/new year coming and all?

Whats your take? Is it fair to count about 2 months from NOA2 til interview?

So short: Flying out early december (NOA2 or not in hand) and stay somewhere until mid january, going home for the interview.

Packet from embassy would obviously had to be mailed to me from sweden by my family.

sorry for this rambling post

Most likely it will be about 2-5 months, u gotta go through NVC first! And Xmas and New Years will slow both them and the embassy down!

Also make sure you have evidence showing u do intend to return home when u fly out. Just saying it would suck to be sent home on the next flight back.

2-5 months! Is it NVC that slows it down the most or the embassy interview?

thats crazy, maybe i should just go back after christmas and wait it out in sweden then, I mean I will not make any money in the states just spend it

I still have my apartment so I dont think it will be a problem and never had any problems even though i visited multiple times during the k1 process and before that.

Well once u get your noa 2 your file will be sent to NVC and once there it has to be put in the system. If you are lucky that will be within 2 weeks, unlucky it can be 4 weeks. And then the NVC gotta do whatever they do. And remember thanksgiving is coming up and what not in November and NVC are closed on holidays. Once everything is done at NVC it will be sent to the embassy and they will for sure sure slow down during Xmas and New Years.

So if you do get your noa2 within a month that would make it end of November, I'm pretty sure you won't get an interview before the end of January maybe February. But with that said, sometimes NVC surprises you and maybe the embassy isn't that busy....

Just don't get your hopes up, expect the worst it makes the wait so much easier. Getting the noa 2 is such a good feeling but there is still a long wait ahead

I would say that the normal I have seen for the K1 going through Stocholm is 6-8 weeks. Mine took 7 weeks. But no holidays in between...If you get your NOA2 late November i would not expect an interview before late January... But you never know

Lol same happened to me. Ticked "yes" for tobacco use (snus) and the doctor changed my answer and just said "we don't usually consder that tobacco."

Your medical was the same day as mine.. What time were you there? I was there around 4 - 5 pm..

Ah, I was there at the same time. Didn't realize anyone from the forum would be there :) I was the third guy in line, not the big guy with the beard. I recognize you from your pictures now. I should have checked ahead and said hi

It took me 40 days from NOA2 to interview. But I guess I have been lucky, and there was only one holiday (Columbus Day) in between. I e-mailed the embassy as soon as I had sent them my check list back, and told them when my medical was. Don't know if that helped me get an interview faster, but it is worth a shot.
