When emailing the Stockholm embassy, how would you guys rate the answers? I do get replies fairly quickly, but they're always very short and not too informative. For example, I just had my medical scheduled so I inquired today about an interview date in late October or early November if possible, and the reply was "We are fully booked in October." nothing more, nothing less. Had to reply again to ask about November - Still waiting for a reply on that.

One of the many emails I got from the embassy simply said "Yes!" in the whole reply lol.

I would limit your email dealing with the embassy to one specific question per email, you can write them as many emails as you want.

Wow, thank you so much!!Since we'll be a household of three, we'll need a little more than that I presume? Yes, we'll be going for the CR-1/IR-1 :)

Any time! Income requirements for household of three:

Lower 48: $23,862

Hawaii: $27,450

Alaska: $29,837

Someone mentioned to me that we should apply for the I-485 too? Is this necessary and/or faster?

I-485 is for adjustment of status. This is only relevant if you are currently in the US. If you entered the US legally, and are still in the US, you can adjust status and remain in the US until it is processed - In this case you would file an I-130 along with the I-485.

If you're going the CR-1/IR-1 route, that means you're currently not in the US and you cannot adjust status. I-485 is not necessary, nor is it applicable in your case.

Typical email from the NVC:Typical email from the embassy:

Great comparison, tack så mycket!

Haha that's hilarious. I didn't get any reply to my last email asking for possible open slots in November. They seem to have a one word/sentence reply policy. I don't imagine that going well with answering multiple questions lol. I guess I'll stick to my 11/13 date and not whine. As for you GandK, I'm happy to inform you that I just made it back to Norway and absolutely not enjoying the 4 degree weather here. Brrrrr...

I hope you survive your last scandinavian winter! It's been really hot here, hasn't rained for almost a week and weather forecast says it is not gonna rain in the next 10 days.

Never imagined I would have to complain about 30C degree here laughing.gif

You really don't know how much you'll miss Scandinavian winters until you don't have em anymore! I'm in Pennsylvania (!!) with snow, plenty of woods, sour winds from the great lakes... you'd think it'd be just like home, but I miss Norwegian winters. I can't even imagine living somewhere without proper seasons now. XD

Married since 03/02/2011, AOS from F-1 visa, green card granted 05/24/2011.
Blessed with a healthy baby boy, 08/19/2011! We get to keep our family together! Thank you! smile.png

Haha, that is awesome.

My wife is real stubborn about snow and cold, she says she hates it. There is occasionally snow in Pittsburgh, but whenever there is some snow, everyone turns into a doomsday prophet/world's worst driver.

Not that winters have been very cold and snowy (except for 2009 and 2010 I believe it was), but I think I am going to miss that, snow.

Pittsburgh is a lot farther south than Västerås. I am also going to miss the long bright summer nights. The sun sets much earlier in the evening in Pittsburgh. On the bright side (no pun intended) the sun sets later in the winter, but still.

The things you do for love, eh? ;)

Save some of that hot, dry weather for this weak viking soul, Looks like I'll be Hawaii bound again before the winter kicks in. Stockholm embassy just emailed me back, pushed my interview up to Nov 6th! All in one sentence of course.

I remember when I first came to southern California for school. I was so thrilled about not having to see snow for a long, long time. It didn't hit until Christmas eve how much I missed it. I told my wife she has no choice if she wants to be with me lol.. Norwegian julaften every year or divorce

Yes. Nothing like the sun setting around 10:30. Likewise, I always love the early dark around Christmas time.

Bork, when do you head for the new world?

Not sure yet. Still have to get rid of my apartment. This is the first time I've really wished I lived in a rental and not something I own, but those are the breaks.

I expect to be in Pittsburgh before the end of the year.
