Guys, I just had my world ROCKED!

After six years here, someone told me they do in fact have leverpostei in America, rofl! They call it Braunschweiger and I found it with all the other pre-packaged deli meats (Hillshire Farms, Oscar Mayer, etc) at my local grocery store. I'm in AWE that I didn't know this, and that nobody has told me before! XD

Now I just need to make my 1-year old like it. :P He's never had it, and spit it out with much gusto, lol.

Leverpastej is awesome! Which kind do you guys like better; the one you spread like butter or the one you cut with a cheese slicer?

I wonder if the NVC is just having problems with applications going through Stockholm because of ignorance. Just got off the phone with them and they said that my husband's passport and police records were not from Sweden and he has to send in Swedish ones. Ummm, because he's Danish. I had to explain to the operator that Danes have to go through the Swedish embassy and asked for a supervisor review. Let's see how long this takes, going on two months in NVC, this is such BS.

Yeah, shouldn't they be the ones who know how the process works and explain it to you, vs. the other way around? Crazy.

Yes! Argh, so frustrated (because it's arcane) and embarrassed (because they are misinformed) with this bureaucracy.

Aww.. Leverpostej. Preferably on rugbrød, and preferably as it pops out of the oven. I miss fresh fish too.

Rarasantiago - The process is still somewhat new to them. I don't know if they relocated any of the staff from the Danish IV unit to the Swedish however, have you tried asking for someone at the Swedish embassy who has experience with how the procedure is for Danes?

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

I wish we were at the embassy stage :), still trying to get a case closed at NVC, so not sure the embassy can help us at this point. I imagine that the person processing just assumed it's going through Sweden that the applicant should also be Swedish.

As for the leverpostej, my husband will be glad to know he can find it in the States. Unfortunately, that's one of the two Danish foods I didn't like, the other is the lard with bacon pieces in it (don't remember the name), wonder where he can find that here ;)

I think when you grow up with leverpostej, you kinda get attached to it, just like most kids in the US are to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches(which is just as awful tasting as lard, IMO. He he). I found rugbrød in a grocery store in town. The real stuff. SHowed it to my husband and he was flabbergasted by the weight of that single piece of bread.

Probably - it's a bit black and white sometimes with the answers you get from the embassy unless you have an embassy case number. However, they were very fast to answer my questions, both through phone and email. That was before they moved the IV unit though.
