Hello,

We're just starting on the process of moving from Denmark to the US. I've been living in DK for three years with my Danish husband, and I'm not sure how to best start the process.

I don't have an income or a home in the US. Does this mean that I'll have to leave before him and find a job and a place to live?

Will he have to attend an interview in Stockholm?

We have children, and am trying to plan this so that the transition is as easy for the kids as possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Is it getting hot for you there in DC? Well, here (close to Oslo) we have 13 degrees celsius and cloudy skies tonight. I just LOVE the "summer" here. ( No, I don't)

I'm actually in Finland right now, I get to spend the whole summer here  . They got a hot and humid spell there thee day we left (last Tuesday) and I hear it got to 104F and insanely humid by the weekend!! Right now I'm enjoying the mild climate in southern Finland, but I have to say I don't like the +15C and clouds+rain that we're having here right now, boo.

I'm sure someone here can answer all your questions, but you should also read all the guides for the spousal visa. http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

Your husband need to attendt the interview in Stockholm.

Did you give birth in Denmark? Are your children american citizens?

Good luck!

I agree on you with that! It's so frustrating that we can't some decent tempratures and sun that last a few weeks....

Hi - and thank you.

I read through the guides, and I'm having trouble trying to wrap my head around the information and get the timing right. I did not give birth in Denmark, and we do not have a child together. We have our own children and are a blended family.

If I have to leave DK and get a job and a house in the US in order to sponsor him, he will also have to move out of our current house, into a temporary apartment. But I'm not sure how to time this so that we are separated for the least amount of time, and so that we can plan for our kids' needs.

Is there any smart way to file, or is there any way to know at what point he will have to show that I am in the US with a job and a house? Can I file from here, and then go there at some specific point?

Thanks!

I am a bit of a rookie here myself so I cannot provide any real answers for you, but I would suggest you ask not only in the Europe subforum but the "bigger" forums as well. You may or may not be able to get information about Denmark specifically, but I'm sure you will be able to get information vital for your case, for Europe in general, if you know what I mean.

As far as I know, direct consular filing is not available in the Nordic countries, but I don't know for certain.

So i got my visa today, but i have one question. When i am on the plane over there i need to fill out this form on the plane how does i fill that out?? have anybody done that??

That's GREAT NEWS!!! Congratulations!!!!!

On the plane you should fill out the white I-94 form, that is the arrival-departure record that you will need to hold on to for AOS purposes. Also you need to fill out the customs form, but since you are moving you can just put in "personal items", "household goods" etc. and in the value column you can just put $0. We all have I think it's a year (or more) to move our things overseas without having to pay toll on them.

This is so exciting, again, congratulations!!!!
