I am reading in the FAQ's here on visajourney that you need to bring originals of all copies originally submitted with the I-129F petition to the embassy interview (like my fiancées birth certificate). However, the checklist I have received from the embassy does not mention this. Should I follow the embassy's instructions?

Also, with pay stubs, does it need to be the two latest ones? My interview is on January 12 and we were thinking the pay stubs for December are fine. Is it very strict? The instructions from the embassy doesn't mention anything about pay stubs, but we thought we would get them just to be sure...

The checklist each embassy gives you is in addition to the "general" info that all must bring regardless of consulate

An IO can at any time ask for an original of any submitted photocopy...

Regarding paystubs, this is examples of supporting documents from the instructions of the i-134, which should be on your checklist. They should be as recent as you can, December sounds fine. It's up to you to prove the financial support. Each case is different, my fiancé had a pretty recent job when we sent our application, so recent paystubs were very important to us. They might be less important to a couple where the USC has made more than enough money over a long time so that it's reflected on the tax transcripts.

Thanks for the replies, yet again! I will bring the original documents to be sure. I wish the embassy would make it clearer it's a possibility they need to see the original documents. I see a lot of information here on visajourney that is not mentioned in the instructions from the embassy, so it's a little confusing.

I'm bringing tax transcript, letter from employer, letter from the bank, bank statements, pay stubs, W2... That should be enough.

I disagree. The checklist + any individual requests from the embassy is what they'll ask for atthe interview. It does not come in addition to anything from this site. The reason VJ suggests the foreign fiancé has a copy of the entire original packet, is to make sure they know exactly what was said - in case they are asked about it.

Not unless they specified it before the interview (or something unexpected comes up at the interview). For instance, you have to bring originals of divorce decrees, and you are notified of that prior to the interview. Each embassy is different. Sticking with the instructions provided by the embassy is always the best approach.

RandB, that's pretty much what we had in our packet for the financial stuff. It is better to have everything with you and not need it then not have it and they ask for it.

I agree sticking with the instructions is a good approach but I also think that you should err on the side of causion since each case is different. I really don't want to be pedantic, but there's a difference between what is required and "what I would bring to be on the safe side".
