Got my case number today. Can I go ahead and complete the DS-160 or should I wait until I receive the instructions from the embassy?

You can complete the DS-160 but it's not the case number you need for that.

There are many users who have a U.S. citizen as a spouse... How did you find your partners? I don't want to live here, to be honest! The U.S. is really the country I belong in.

Edit: I realized this was meant for Scandinavians... Please treat a young 18-year-old boy from your neighboring country, Finland, well!

Since you're only 18, I'm gonna assume you haven't travelled around the US on your own or spent any real time over here?!?! Hollywood paints a really bright picture of the US, reality is far from it. Especially for us Scandinavians (Finnish included ?), who are generally open-minded, educated and forward-thinking people. Like others have suggested, either come over and study or maybe do a year as an au-pair. Get to know the real US, not the one you think you know from Hollywood blockbusters.

Why do you think you belong in the US? What is it you like about the US?

I see that in the letter from the embassy I was provided here in this thread, the embassy asks for the latest tax return documents for the affidavit of support. My fiancée was a student last year and only made a few hundred dollars. Are tax returns a must? Will it look bad for my application that my fiancée didn't make anything last year? She has a job now and meets the 125% required. In addition she has savings.

She'll be fine with a letter of employment and some paystubs to prove current income. However, they may want to see a tax return for the purpose of showing that she actually pays taxes. If she was legally exempt due to low income, an explanation of that would be acceptable.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

You can usually just include a letter or note that it was not required due to income.

Hello,

I am just wondering if any of you have any experience in getting a health health insurance prior to the green card?

My Norwegian travelers insurance will be invalid once I register as emigrated from Norway, which will be soon

after I have left. My US spouse have been looking into getting us a joint plan, but it seems like most of

the companies only give plans to green card holders or citizens. So here I am in between. Any experience and insights to share would

be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Petter,

Does your spouse have a job that offers healthcare as a benefit? I was able to insure my husband through work during open enrollment this year (for 2017) and he does not have a SSN. What they will have to do is contact their HR department, and state "My spouse doesn not have a social security number, but I would like them to be a dependant". They will WANT you to have one, but you do not need one! With that, mine is on my healthcare, dental, vision, and all life insurances.

Met in a magical castle in Poland through our mutual love for Harry Potter. Now can not wait to spend our lives together!

Married: 08/08/2016 in Leavenworth, WA on the lovely Voldemort Day!

The embassy received my case at November 8 and I still haven't received my "packet 3". I see that most of you got your packet 3 the same day they received it. Does the beneficiary or petitioner receive it? Neither of us has received anything. How long should I wait before I contact the embassy?

(I am being impatient...)

Took 4 days for us to get it (but there was a weekend in between) and it was sent to the petitioner's email. Like someone else said, make sure to check the spam folder. .)
