If anyone has any other recipes for rugbrød, I'm game to try them, as long as they don't have sourdough. I bake a lot of bread, so new is always good.

Hey guys. I've been in contact with the medical clinic that will be doing the examination I need for the K1 visa. They said that the embassy prefers that the examination is done before an interview date is set. I was surprised by this as my impression is that people get their medical examinations done after the NVC stage. Do any of you have any experience with this? Also, how is it possible for the clinic to send the embassy the results of the examination when you don't have an interview date yet? It just seemed a little odd to me.

Additionally, they informed me that the US will change which medical tests are needed for visas pretty soon. Just for your information.

When it comes to rye bread - my experience is that good ones are sold in grocery stores like Whole Foods. :)

Hi!

NVC forwards your case to the embassy both in electronic and physical form. Once entered into the embassy system with the NVC-case number you use your case number when booking medical etc. You will get an email (packet 3) that states what to do before and what to bring to the interview. Doing the medical is one of those things. You should allow for about two weeks between medical and interview to make sure the medical has time to get to the embassy since the doctors send them in batches, meaning it might not be sent off on the same day you do your medical. The medical will have your case number..that's how it finds its way to the right case at the embassy :)

EDIT: packet 3 can be sent to USC or beneficiary... I made sure the NVC and the embassy had my email...I got sent the email.

Yes they embassy have always preferred to have the medical before the interview so they can move on with the cases and don't have to wait for them to arrive and then make decisions. I'm on from my phone so can't see if you are K-1 or CR-1 but don't get why you are so supprised by that. People get their medical after NVC because they need their case number to book the medical (Denmark don't but most others do).

The doctor in Oslo doesn't need your case number. He requires the interview date for most visas, except K1. It's important to complete the medical well before the interview, unless you want to be delayed while the results are processed. It doesn't really matter if you've booked your interview yet or not (for K1, we choose and book our own dates in Sweden). The medical results will be matched up with your case at the embassy based on your name/nationality/passport information.

Thanks! So I guess the medical examination process differs from country to country. I will make sure to have my medical done as soon as possible after NOA2.

Yeah, this is what I thought the process normally would look like. Turns out it's a little different for Norwegians. Thanks!

I am well aware that the medical must be done before the interview. I was not surprised by this. I was surprised by the fact that I didn't need a interview date and a case number to go through with my medical.

.

Indeed, everything differs from country to country and embassy to embassy. Make sure to get your bloodwork done (at Ullevall sykehus if you can, I did it at my local doctor and they made a fine mess of the process because sensing it to a different lab then they usually did was outaide their system and hence close to impossible) and the X-ray at Unilabs Majorstuen before the medical.

And remember that your visa will only be valid for six months counting from the day of the medical.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

When I went to my interview it was only me and one other K-1 filer there and he told me he had his medical scheduled for August 30 and our interview day was August 22. The embassy was fine with that, so it seems doing the medical before the interview isn't a must, but they probably prefer if you do.

It's not a must, but they can't make a decision on your case before they have the medical results.

Hello everyone! Finally almost at the end of the K1 visa journey.

So my fiance's interview is later today at 8:30 am and I'm a mess ?

I was rushed to an urgent care clinic for chest pain and heart palpitations only to be told that my heart rate is normal and all vitals are normal.

Doc said, I am having an anxiety attack Due to stress.

Indeed I am nervous, excited, stressed and anxious for today. Can't seemed to calm down.

Need help in calming this nerves.

Any suggestions?

I know it's easy to say,.. but you just got to calm down. There's nothing you can do at this point. I'm sure the interview will go fine,.. and in about half an hour from now he has called you and said you're approved. :dancing: Life is too short to worry,..it won't change the outcome, it will just destroy your happiness today.

Timeline

Yeah, figured since it seem like most of the immigrant visa interviews start between 8 and 9. You'll be fine. Let us know how it went... I got my interview in 25 days.. can't wait to get it over with.

Her interview went well. But she was the last one who got interviewed. She got there around 7:45 am and had to wait outside until 9 am. She didn't get out of the embassy until 11 am.

She said she's approved and they took her passport. However she got a 221g because the embassy didn't receive her medical exam result which she did go 2 weeks ago.
