For those who are going to interview for K-1 visas soon:

Bring proof of ongoing relationship just in case. They asked both me and the other K-1 applicant for chat logs and/or facebook messages/posts, letters and photos. I don't know how common it has been in the past to ask for chatlogs and such, but they ask for it now anyway.

I'm sure they won't hang you if you don't have it, but since they asked for it from both of us then you can might as well bring it just in case. Well, bring everything on the checklist, of course.

I have a question regarding the "Registration of address" on the checklist. How do I register? Do I do that on the same page where I scheduled the interview?

Yes when you went through the booking of the interview there was a question that asked for the address where you want your passport sent. It asks for your home address, but I can't imagine they actually send it straight to your home. They probably send it with "recommendation" or whatever it's called so you have to go to the nearest kassaservice and pick it up (with valid ID).

Well it's on the checklist the embassy gives you so yeah, bring it :)

Yes, like I said, everything on the checklist. Just wanted to make sure I told them about this so they don't think more evidence isn't needed (yes they took it all from me, including the ring receipt and letter of intent, but got it back later on).

Thanks! :D

But wait do they keep your passport at the interview or do they just make a copy of it and then give it back before you leave? I'm asking since I only use my passport as ID (yes I'm very inconvenient  )

if you're talking about the interview at the Embassy in Stockholm, yes they are keeping your passport. That's where they stamp your visa. :) It will be mailed back to you with your package within a few days.

They do send it directly home. It doesn't come with the regular mail by with some kind of postnord courier.

I have a hard time finding info but how long is the Police clearance from Sweden valid for? The last one I had printed was on April 7th (I ordered 3 extracts just in case) and my interview is on September 8th so it'll be 5 months old

Okay when I go to travel.state.gov it says a police clearance is valid for 1 year but when I check the pdf file for Stockholm it says 6 months so I should be alright I think?

Good luck, linafinn, you'll be fine! The interview is very easy and is over so quickly it's not worth any worry. They're all very friendly too (apart from the guy in window 6 who was quite rude while he denied everybody but one during the 2 hours I was there, hahaha).

I'll post a review when I get the time. If you're going to stay at a hotel close by and haven't booked one yet I'd recommend STF Gärdet, only a 15 minute walk on a wide grovel path across the field and you're right by the embassy. VERY convenient and it's not the most expensive choice either. I think the absolute closest one is Villa Källhagen.

Wow, okay. It sounds good but I wonder if you have to be home when it arrives, I don't have that possibility as I don't work in the town I live in. If not home I assume you get to pick it up either way then, hopefully.
