You should not go by what the US Department of State says. Every embassy handles the K1 and CR1 differently and you should follow the instructions given to you by the Swedish embassy. If you haven't received it yet, be patient and wait for it before (don't take this in a mean way) you do something you're not supposed to do.

You should NOT email NVC anything. You will get a list of things that needs to be brought to the interview. Nothing will be sent to either NVC or the embassy.

Thank you everyone for the response, yes I did receive the one from the embassy. We followed what was on the list and paid for the visa application. Interview is scheduled for the 22nd of Sept.

My interview is scheduled on September 8th :)

Has anyone had problems with getting supporting evidence from the bank regarding the affidavit of support? More specific the check providing service called "ADP". His job opened an account in his name when they signed with ADP and they refuse to change it so that he receives his paycheck to his own personal account at Bank of America that's why he needs to get the statements from them...

We gave them the specifics according to the instruction manual on how to fill out the Affidavit of Support but they don't seem to understand what we are requesting them to do and they refuse to let him talk to a supervisor....

Anyone with similar experiences?

We didn't provide anything from the bank.

But I hope you figure something out

Camm got a letter from the bank, was not a problem at all. He took the form instructions with him and went there and showed them what it said... they just wrote all the things requested..

What is ADP? Btw

Its a payroll providing service some companies use... Don't really know how it works (since I dont know anything about accounting and economics) but according to a lot of reviews its extremely bad so I don't know why his job decided to contract with them. So it's basically a bank account where he receives his paychecks and thats its only purpose... So everytime he receives a paycheck he needs to transfer them from ADP to his personal bank account at Bank Of America

There'll be some time in between me selling my place until I actually leave the country (about two weeks or so), so I'll live in my parents' cabin for that time - do I change my address to the same as my parents' or is it enough with my address in the US even though I haven't quite moved yet?

To be on the safe side I would recommend switching to your parents address. You will lose a lot of rights as soon as you are registered as having left the country such as free healthcare and subsidized dentist visits.

Yes, that's very true. Even if I won't be staying in Sweden that long things can still happen of course, didn't think about that. Thank you!

I was just wondering, the EAD only allows me to work right? But what if I wanted to study instead after we've gotten married? Do I have to wait for my GC or is there anything else I can apply for?

From what I can tell from searching VJ is that it's fine but depending on the school you might pay the same tuition as a foreign student until you get your GC.

Best way to find out is to contact the school.

Yeah haha! I know people have to pay a fortune to go to school there so I feel really lucky :D

We Scandinavians are really spoiled when it comes to dental/healthcare and education

Yes we are! I studied here for one year. Had dated my now husband for about a year and I really wanted to stay and see how things worked out. I had to use all of my savings plus "borrow" (I say "borrow" because it ended up being a gift") money from my parents to be able to afford it. Insane!

Where are you going to study? What are you going to study? :)

How nice of them!

I found a school called ADA (not American disability association) College in Seattle and its a school for women only to get more women into the IT field.

So I'm gonna study coding and programming, it's 6 months of classroom education and then 5 months of paid internship :) I stumbled across it when I was looking at IT educations in Seattle since I wanna re-school myself and actually wanted to start study IT (I'm originally an educated auto mechanic)
