Thanks, Maria&Seve. I saw you could upload the photo already in the beginning but I skipped that and went through the form instead, and then ended up at the "upload a photo" page afterwards. The DS-160 was indeed much easier than expected. I just took a date from out of nowhere to put on the "intended date of arrival", I hope that's fine. I also put down the USCIS receipt number and not the NVC case number (as I don't even have the latter yet).

Suss&Camm: I called the Gbg clinic when Einar was on vacation and I got an appointment in the middle of August. I called back later on and rescheduled it when I realized how long it'll take for NVC to receive the petition. And there was no problem getting an appointment in August, seemed like a few others had rescheduled as well so I got one of those. I'm just hoping I'll have the case number by then.

And yes, you're right. The price did go up, it went from 2800:- to 3200:- (including x-ray and blood tests), which isn't bad and still much cheaper than in Stockholm.

Ok good! I was worried you would have to wait too long for Gothenburg :D

Yes.. I told the doc the price in Gothenburg.. Well I said they were cheaper and he asked... n I said it was 3300 plus the x-ray..

He lifted his eyebrows and said "really?" I'm like yea, that's why they get more bookings... lol

Haha yes! That might be a big factor, I've heard stories in this thread about the medical in Stockholm ending up at over 5000:- which sounds crazy to me - but I bet that included shots and extra blood tests and stuff too. In the end it doesn't really matter where we go or what it costs, it'll be so worth it when the journey is over. (L)

A lot of people do that question wrong actually. They think they are supposed to put in the case number given from NVC but it is actually the USCIS number they ask for if you read the question carefully so you did the right thing! :)

Yeah that is probably blood tests etc. I paid a lot but not that much :P But yeah, I had the same thought when I was standing there paying the fee. It's worth it in the end :)

Yes I noticed the little "help section" on the side where it said USCIS, receipt number and blah blah, so I figured I'd be safe with the WAC number. Good to know it was the correct one, it could be a little bit confusing if you don't read every single word on there and you have more than one number. I'm very happy the whole thing was so easy though.

And it said in the beginning that it times out after 20 minutes - I swear it timed out every 5 minutes! Or so it felt anyway.. :P

Going to get the photos tomorrow, both on paper and on the email I think. :energy:

You don't have to go and get the photos professionally made. The K1 was my 4th US visa and I have always used photos I've had laying around on my laptop. You can just ask a friend or someone take a photo with a camera or phone as long as you're standing against a neutral background (like an empty wall) and you make sure there's no shadows.

Yeah, I don't like the time out thing. I just kept saving after each page :P

That's a good advice, I guess I could try that for the DS-160 photo.

This process has taken so long already so I don't dare to use the photos I took for the i-129f package (for the medical or interview). That's been more than 6 months ago.

Omg you would've laughed so hard if you saw how I handled the timeout on the DS-160. On the pages with the most questions I only answered about half of them correctly, then I just wrote down gibberish on the rest of them to be able to save quickly. And then I went back to it and wrote in the correct info. Everything not to lose the first half of the answers! :D So stupid that you can't save unless the whole page is done.

I had my interview today and was approved! :D The interview was surprisingly easy and non-stressful. I will post a review in the next couple of days!

Now (of course) I am looking at flight, and as we are going down to Texas, we'll have to get a connecting flight – either through Chicago or Newark. Does any of you have experience with POE at either of those, and approx. how long does it take? I don't want to have too tight a connection!

Hello fellow Austiner and congratulations on your approval. :) When are you moving down here? We are two Swedish VJers in Austin, that I know of anyway, and there's a pretty active Swedish community in Austin too.

I flew via Newark. I landed around noon and there were no other people or flights at customs at that time. I walked right up to CBP, handed over my envelope, the CBP officer walked me to secondary screening and less than two minutes later, my passport was stamped and I was on my way. :)

EEEYYYYOOOSSS

EEE= the embassy in your case STK for Stockholm

YYYY= the year - now 2016

OOO = the day of the year + 500. (Example) 645 means day 145 of this year.

SSS= the sequence number for the day. can be 001, 002, 003 and so on. (How many they have for that embassy)

Thank you, Georgia. I think that's the case number, right? I have another number too that's apparently called an "invoice number" and I'm not sure what to do with it? Not sure what it's for?

Yes it is. Sorry was too fast.

Invoice number is to pay a fee. Nothing that you have to use for your K-1 case
