Alright, thank you! So I'll wait for the checklist then. I assume I can't do the DS-160 before I get the checklist either?

Basically there's nothing I can do apart from getting the few little documents needed for the interview..?

Yes you can and should do the ds-160... it takes a while to complete and it doesn't have a expiration date...

If your case has been sent from nvc I would definitely book medical also. It takes atleast 11 days for it to reach the embassy after it's completed... and you will have your packet 3 before that alone... plus add to that the time before you get an appointment for medical...

If you have booked/done medical and completed ds-160.. you have done what you can at the point of waiting for package 3 email

Thank you, Maria&Seve!

The STK number is the case number I get from NVC, right? I don't have that yet, the petition was approved a month ago and USCIS tells me they need 90 days(!!) to send it to NVC.

I have booked the medical but the date isn't exactly next week so I'm hoping I'll have every number I need by then, or I'll have to reschedule. The wait time to get an appointment seems fairly long tbh, but one might be lucky to get a date and time someone else rescheduled.

All the vaccination papers are packed and ready at least. I do miss the passport photos though so I need to get those. And the police papers and personbevis are here too, I hope they won't be too old by the time I actually get to go for an interview.

Once NVC send it out everything will be quick. Doesn't take long for it to arrive at the embassy and the embassy is really quick with sending out the checklist.

I've heard this many times before. :D

"The K-1 is so fast, you'll have your visa in 4-5 months!!"

"Oh okay, it didn't go that fast.. but it'll go super fast once you get your NOA2!"

"Ehm.. just 3 more months waiting for USCIS to send your approved petition to NVC, THEN it goes fast!"

Let's just say I don't have much hope left that ANYTHING in this process will be fast. :P:lol:

Yeah I ordered 3 copies of the "belastningsregister" and they all arrived in the same envelope so I didnt really have a choice but to open it in order to separate the copies :P I think you are allowed to open the envelope now since its got a watermark on it which makes it hard to tamper with? Just a theory though

Oh! Why three? Hmm do I need to get more?

I don't think you need them for the process but I was thinking of ordering a few extra in case needed in the US at a later stage. You never know, could be good to have an extra copy or two.

Thanks for your reply btw!

Yes, but I just saw you are waiting for nvc number :)

I completed my ds-160 after waiting 2 weeks from NOA2... but the ds-160 doesn't expire unless there are changes to the info that you provide there... so there is no reason why you couldn't finish that :)

Oh..and thank you too! Hahaha :D

I just posted in "March Filers" what I remember from the ds-160...

It's not difficult just a lot and you answer to the best of your knowledge and ability.. It was for instance difficult to remember exact travelling dates. .. so then you estimate to the best of your ability... :)

Thank you, Maria&Seve!

:P:lol:

Well USCIS and NVC are both slow. The US embassy at least before their increased workload due to changes to the VWP were fast. Had my "Packet 3" 7 days after my file reached the embassy.

The police papers are valid for 6 months to a year don't remember which. Your personbevis is fine. Make sure to get another one before you leave to use for AOS.

I don't think you need them for the process but I was thinking of ordering a few extra in case needed in the US at a later stage. You never know, could be good to have an extra copy or two.

Thanks for your reply btw!

You don't need them. You don't need them for AOS and if you apply for a job they will do their own background checks.

And...hmm I thought you got the one police certificate back?

Shucks... oh maybe I'll do that later then... this paper display "game" is all about being proactive lol

They put it into your sealed envelope for CBP to send to USCIS.

Good, I'll look into the whole DS-160 minefield then. I've only seen examples of it and it looked ridiculously difficult. :P

It looks intimidating but it's fine. And you can always save it and return later if it gets to overwhelming or you realize you don't have all the things you need to fill it out: passport etc. Important advice: don't over think it or it will be even more confusing :P

Good adivce about the personbevis. I'll get a couple of extra before leaving, plus they're for free. Can't say the same about the police paper so I think I'll just skip extras of that one.

For "intended date of arrival" on the DS-160, can I just make up a date? I can't choose "does not apply".

Also "Do you have any other relatives in the US?", I don't have any but my fiancé, so is that a yes or a no?

I just got extra copies just in case. So one that I sent to my fiance, one for myself and one for the consulate. I dont know if I actually needed them but I did it just in case and also so that I could have an exact copy of all the papers we sent in but maybe thats just me being a control fr-eak :P I try to be as organized as I possibly can just so that dont miss anything.

When I talked to the medical office in Stockholm they said that it was fine to book and attend the medical without a case nr. The medical results are valid for 6 months anyways so I guess that I just have to send them the case nr once I've recieved it and they'll transfer the results to the US Consulate once they get the case nr from me.

It's hopefully the same thing at the clinic in Gothenburg too then, linafinn.

Does anyone know what the last page of the DS-160 is btw? I'm at the photo page now and can't upload any photo yet as I haven't taken any new ones in a while. Is there more after that or is the DS-160 all filled out after the photo page?

The ds-160 and the photo page are sort of separate. You can either start with the photo and do the questions or the other way. So if you've done all the questions then it's only the photo left.

The clinic in Gothenburg wants ur case number. I called them first cus I'm from Gothenburg and they are cheaper. They are however increasing their price soon. They also didn't have any appointments until mid September...so I opted for Stockholm that had one the next week from when I called.
