Hello Scandis,

Me and my fiance are collecting documents for our I-130 Evidence of Bona Fide Marriage and I have read that we should transcripts from IM conversations.

How many pages is it necessary to provide; what is preferable screenshots or just text logs? (My phone and my browser keep crashing whenever I try to scroll back to whatsapp conversations from 2013 so it's difficult to take screenshots.)

It depends on what other kinds of bona fida evidence you have?! If you have had a lot of visits, then just send a small selection of messages to show the ongoing daily conversations you have. I visited my husband a lot before moving over, so all we included with the I-130 were passport stamps and pictures of us together and with family.

I think the people who say you need to send a lot of IM, emails logs, call logs etc, it's for those that haven't really met that much in person. Face to face time is always gonna be your best evidence.

Thanks for your reply!

So far we have collected:

* Receipts for money transfers

* Various pictures since 2013

* Call log since February 2014

* Various receipts from gifts, stays at AirBNB's when we have traveled in Europe and the US.

* Copies of letters

* Flight tickets (excluding boarding passes - I never knew they would come in handy.)

Before we send the packet I will include:

* Affidavit from me and my (then) wife

* Third party affidavit

* Marriage certificate (obviously)

* Wedding photos

I guess "a lot of visits" is a little relative :).

We met when I was an exchange student in Boston, 2013. Since 2014, I've visited her four times (two of my visits were 4-6 months stay thanks to study abroad and internship programs) and we have planned fifth trip planned in a couple of weeks where we are getting married.

She has visited me three times since 2014.

Do you think exhaustive chat logs/screenshots are necessary with all that information? It seems a little overwhelming for the person reviewing it.

Thanks!

Doubt you'll need chat logs for the Stockholm embassy, especially with other evidence. I wouldn't bother to send them.

With all those visits/face time you don't need email/chat/IM logs, just skip them.

You don't need affidavits from you and your wife for the CR-1. In fact, affidavits carry little to no weight so don't even bother getting them from friends and family either.

Welcome!

Ty! Then I'm guessing it will be rather quickly :) I was so lucky to get my medical booked today for Tuesday and I'm picking up my fiancé at Arlanda on Wednesday morning, so I was travelling up from Gothenburg on the Tuesday in any case... I couldn't believe my luck! :)

I see that there are many ppl in this thread already in the US... very nice to have this great support from the VJ forums, it's been a tremendous help

They also email the beneficiary if you've given them your email.

Ah! Good to know, yes they should have both our emails :) Edited by Suss&Camm

I finally got my visa in the mail and that big scary envelope! Lol! I was just wondering, is my birth certificate and police certificate in it? And do i get to keep the documents? I delivered originals at the embassy and were wondering if i need to order new ones. Any other documents you guys recommend to bring for the AOS?

Yes they are in the envelope and no you won't get them back. They are sent to USCIS. I recommend bringing at least another birth certificate as you will need it for AOS. No need for police certificate.

I was given all of my evidence and documents back at the embassy by the interviewing officer after he approved the visa.

Haha, seems they have no guidelines on what to do with the documents. I got the "proof of ongoing relationship" back at the interview, but nothing else.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.
