I thought emailing the embassy would be hopeless, but I actually received a response in less than 12 hours!

It's not biggie. I go there and do the interview, and once I have my waiver I send it to them. They will not deny the visa, but simply not issue it before the waiver + all other documents are in their hands.

They tend to be good at responding.

The depth, quality and details in their email responses however is a different matter entirely.

I wonder if it is an embassy policy to do one-liners. They have enough rollover in staff that it can't be the same person.

In other news, said I would never go back to Denmark, but yet here we are over 3 years later, visiting Denmark again soon. SMH.

Probably. My guess is a goal of responding within 24 hours, combined with a proverbial ****ton of liability restrictions as to what they can and can't say :)

Have fun in Denmark! Been back to Norway twice.

Hi! Do I need to organize anything from Sweden before I move to the US? I mean after I've recieved the visa in hand? Do I need to file any paperwork or do I take care of all the changes after I've gotten married and filed for AOS?

You need to let Skatteverket know you're moving out of the country. https://www.skatteverket.se/privat/folkbokforing/flyttautomlands.4.18e1b10334ebe8bc80001591.html

Just that? Thank you so much!!!

That's the only thing I'd say you're required to do. I also recommend bringing an extra copy of your "personbevis 120 med alla relationer" as you will need that for AOS.

I'm sorry for asking a possibly stupid question.. I read somewhere that I'll need 7 passport photos all-in-all for the whole K-1 process and that's what's getting me confused. I used 1 photo for the i-129f package, the medical doctor tells me he needs 2 photos, the embassy tells me they need 2 photos.. so what do I need the other 2 photos for? Makes me think maybe I made up the number 7 in my head. :D

Okay then at least I wasn't completely off. I'm in Halland so I'll be going to Gothenburg and they only told me to bring 2 photos. Maybe I should bring another 2 just in case, they don't take much space anyway. :P

I had my medical examination in Stockholm today.

All went well as I'm completely healthy. I didn't have any proof of vaccinations with me so I had to get one vaccine shot and also get my blood tested for two other things.

The doctor asks about 20 questions and does a few physical checks. Expect to take shirt and pants off! It's just to check your lungs and knee reflexes, and a few other additional things too.

Everything took about an hour in total and they know how to charge you a lot of money for it.

Concerning photos, I gave away two when getting my X-ray, three when I did my medical exam, and I will have to bring another two to the embassy for the interview. 7 in total.

February 15th: Submitted I-129f.

February 19th: Electronic NOA1

February 23rd: Hardcopy NOA1

April 22nd: RFE

April 23rd: Submitted RFE response

April 28th: RFE received by USCIS

May 19th: Approved. Electronic NOA2

May 24th: Hardcopy NOA2

June 8th: NVC receive case

June 10th: NVC assign case number

June 17th: E-mail from US embassy in Stockholm

June 20th: Discover that J1 visa 2-year home residency rule not fulfilled. Filing for waiver of the 2-year rule.

June 30th: Sent documents for 2-year rule waiver to the Waiver Review Division at the Department of State.

June 30th: Sent documents to Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C. for No Objection Statement regarding 2-year rule.

July 6th: Medical examination in Stockholm.

---> July 14th: Interview at the US Embassy in Stockholm. Approved. Waiver for 2-year rule required before visa can be handed out.

How much did you pay for the medical in total with the x-ray and vaccine + bloodtest?

Also do you have to pay for everything there or can you pay by faktura?

5700 kr in total for medical + vaccine + blood test + X-ray.

I am not sure about what payment methods they accept. I used my debit card.
