Aha.. ok, so when I receive my NVC case number I can book the physical,..when I'm there, the doctor will give me the requisition for X-rays and I'll have to see them after the physical?

You need both your case nr and interview date to book the medical (K1's don't need the date, in case anyone reads this). When you contact them (I can send you the email by pm), they will send you the rekvisisjon for both X-ray and bloodwork.

The bloodwork you could do anywhere, but it has to be sent for analysis at Ullevål sykehus. I suggest going to Ullevål sykehus for the samples also. I did It at my fastlege, and they made a complete mess of the whole thing because it didn't fit in their system.

Both bloodwork and X-ray needs to be done before the medical, and there is a form the technicians for each fill out that you need to bring back to medical appointment.

You do not send the CD, but I guess it theoretically could be asked for.

You would not have received a visa if you had tested positive for either of those, so that is some proof I guess ;-)

Not unless they've hire someone who can interpret them.

The X-rays you mean? I'm assuming there's a theoretical reason we need to carry it to the US, although I've never seen anyone actually use it for anything.

Only people who say we do are people here on VJ. I don't know how journal systems in Norway works but I think the reason they give them to you is because they don't have a hospital journal to attach them to. The people in Stockholm can't access mine because I'm in a different region and they can't access it. That's my theory. Because you don't need them. USCIS is only interested in the results on the paper.

How do you prove you don't have syphilis and TB when you file for AOS if you only get the vaccination records? And do you send in the CD too?

Like someone mentioned you wouldn't get your visa otherwise. And I don't know what clinic you go to but I went to the one in Stockholm and I got to see the x-ray results before they sealed the envelope. I also received a copy of the whole medical at the embassy. And no, you don't send the CD. That's for your own records although I don't know why as you need a special program to see it.

I was told specifically both by the X-ray tech and the nurse at the panel physicians office to hand-carry the (sealed) CD to the US. They did not look at the CD I got for personal use, the X-ray lab sent them digitally to the clinic.

I'm well aware that it's (most probably) never going to be asked for, but I'll follow instructions anyway :goofy: A nice little souvenir ;-)

Haha, I know. I had a longer chat with the dr. in Oslo, and he was explaining how all the panel physicians (worldwide) are called for a annual meeting to be updated on the regulations. He said they kept changing and getting stricter every year, and that a lot of physicians in 3rd world countries are really struggling because they don't have the infrastructure available to apply by the rules. I guess that's also a major cause that standardization is impossible, since the systems keeps changing.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

You will get there! I see you're one of the unfortunate ones who've ended up in some slow-moving pile. They will get to you eventually :-) I guess you can call to inquire once the 5 month mark is met.

Unfortunately I've been left alone with this process, I get no help from my fiancé. How do I call USCIS (and later on NVC) from Sweden?

If you have skype I would recommend using that. You can use it to call landlines and cell phones all over the world pretty cheap.

Is that a special reason why you need to call them? You don't really have to if you're just checking in to get your case numbers etc as that will come in the mail.

Does the USC get them in the mail from NVC or do I? I don't trust him to tell me anything regarding this process.

How do I call USCIS on Skype? Just the regular number that you'd call from the US? How much does it cost?

That's disheartening.

It was no more than a few dollars when I used it 3 years ago for long calls. I think they have the rates on their website. You just pay for minutes and go into skype and call.
