Hardly any wait to get a medical in Norway. They only do Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons though :-)

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Not long at all, they had slots available the week after we inquired about them but they do schedule them generally after 1500 (3pm) on tues/wed.

Used to be about a month, unless you got lucky and they got a cancellation. It takes the embassy about 10 days to receive the result of the medical once completed so have that in mind when you book your medical.

Is this only for men?

Not only for men, but only for individuals who had mandatory military service. Eg. in Norway that would include all men, and women born after 1989.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Not only for men. Regardless of your gender, if you have served then you need to bring in these documents, if not then you don't bring anything.
