We have nothing in the Danish BC about the parents other then Names.

And that was fine for my wife, my BC was the one they are missing.

I'm assuming they have it in Norway though, like we do in Sweden, since the embassy specifically asked for it. They're pretty on top of these things at the US embassy in Stockholm.

Edit: by the way, any news about the visa? Did your papers make it to the embassy now?

So, I'm getting everything ready for my interview, and then I realize that my instruction email says this:

BIRTH CERTIFICATE: Your original birth certificate from Norway issued in English. The certificate must state the date and place of birth of both parents and must be from the country where you were born.

Does it really have to state date/place of my parents birth? Doesn't look like Skattetaten offer that. Any Norwegians with any input?

On my English version it only says parents name, i don't know how to get a hold of any other. My best guess is to contact your local fylkesmann, that is where they get issued..

If i remeber correctly you can add a comment when you order it online tho, i will try ordering a new one tomorrow just to be safe ?

Yes can be an Sweden/Norway thing.

I also asked about the Police Cert. why they didn't accepted they online one we can get in Denmark.

They are working on it the lady said to me, so it will be that the one you can get online will be fine, with no wet ink.

My BC will hit Embassy Monday i hope, it´s in Malmø since Saturday afternoon.

And just to top of the week, my retail agreement with two girls to hold my apartment for some times if something was to go wrong was turned down and we had to get a lawyer to my little girl.

But lets hope next week will be better.

BTW - The note on ceac says my passport with visa will be ready after 2 days, when they get the paper. So maybe i will be leaving by end of month

The birth certificate in English was all I needed at the interview(for i130 visa) They never asked for anything about my parents in connection to that.

Yes you do. You might have to speak to several people before you get the right birth cert. I spoke to three or four different people at the Swedish tax office who told me that kind of birth cert was only available in Swedish. Paid a certified translator to translate it into English, got a 221(g) at the interview saying they need an English version straight from the tax office. It delayed our visa with several weeks. Get them what they want.

Hi everyone, thanks for your input. Since opinions seem to differ, I decided to investigate further back in this thread. There was a Danish K1 applicant asking the exact same question as me last summer. It seems the requirement for date/place of birth of parents is a Swedish thing - and can be disregarded for Norwegians/Danes.

I've spoken to Skatteetaten before, and they will only issue the standardized versions available on their website. Also, they are the only authority in Norway that will issue birth certificates. However, annylilly, could you let us know if you are successful at obtaining such a certificate, or if it is fine otherwise at the interview? Mine is not until April 28, so I have some time still to get it all in order.

I will order one online asking if they'll put in date of birth and place in addition to the name, so hopefully I'll have it within a week. In addition i asked another norwegian that just got approved for the k1 visa what kind she had to bring, so we'll see

The one at the train station only does 50 x 50 when the specifications says 51 x 51. Is there any studio in Stockholm that do the right size?
