Yeah.. We will just really have to see what they say on the interview. Im okay with the ban as long as it's not life long. Im okay with the waiver as well. Im okay with waiting. If i need a lawyer I may just have to do that. Again thanks for all your input. I believe in miracles. ?? It just sucks that I wanted him to be there for my graduation. I guess that many not happen ? sad thing indeed.

Yeah, I graduate in a Chiropractic College this year and applying over there would mean having to learn the language which would take a long time because it would be alot of medical terms. It's gonna so much more complicated because swedish laws for chiropractic profession is different from the US ones. It's not too practical. I would have 200k worth of loans i would have to start paying off and if i further study there it would cost me more money. I will have to try for it. And if its for I130 i will go and marry him first. W/e will work. I'm pretty sure we will be able to get a waiver. Fingers crossed.

Unrelated to this, but you probably should learn the language anyway. It is respectful towards your partner and good for the future in case you have children.

It´s just one of them days, where you want to forget it all and wish it never happen.

The waiting for a CC was not as stuff, in my mind that the wait for interview and for the Embassy to decide if they will move it.

I don´t even have the imagination to think, what people go through when they have to wait years.

So glad that i live in a place that is "loved" by USA so it goes faster.

Thank you so much for all your input. Yeah it's already very challenging. We cannot afford a lawyer at all. I'm really lost atm. And this is all a headache to me. That was a huge mistake on our part lying about the visa waiver. So.. I dont know what to do..

I guess I can try the extreme hardship case if they don't allow him. Hopefully it's just a ban for misrep and they forgive the substance use on the police record. They won't find anything in the medical im pretty sure since he's not an abuser or anything like that. It was just a stupid mistake on his part. We will look into the waiver after the interview.

For the DS160, do you guys suggest we say yes on the drug abuse question then? And for the drug conviction, how do u suggest we explain the story?

You've already admitted that it was a huge mistake to lie on the ESTA application, so don't make the same mistake again... So YES, obviously tell the truth on the DS-160. And in your medical, the doctor will ask if your fiance has ever used drugs. Tell the truth there too.

There's no such thing as "just a ban for misrep". Misrepresentation is a serious thing. And in your case, it wasn't a simple "oops we misunderstood", he blatantly lied on a federal form. That is a BIG DEAL. Don't wait for the interview to look into the waiver, be prepared now and know the process.

It´s just one of them days, where you want to forget it all and wish it never happen.

I hope you hear from them soon! I don't, however, think our visa process is any quicker than other countries. The Philipines, for instance, get expedited automatically.....

They haven't been expedited in quite some time now. Only happens when there's a natural disaster over there.

Ok, I thought it would be weird if they still expedited them when there are countries in far more need.... Still, I don't think Scandinavians have any advantage over others.

The only advantage we have is that there aren't that many and therefore the embassy have done it quickly. (at least until now) the other thing is we don't go through AP like many others have too

Here's a stupid question: what is AP?

It is Administrative Processing. It can take weeks, months or sometimes years. It is after the interview then they need to do more background tjek and no one knows for how long all they can do is wait and see if the get approved or will be denied.

That's not true, all visas go through AP, at different stages of the process. The amount of time it is in AP has several factors from waiting for additional info, to waiting on the desk of the agent working it to touch it, etc...It is all really a case by case thing but the main reason Scandinavians tend to process more quickly then several other countries is because it is considered a very low fraud area so they don't necessarily have the higher scrutiny they have to go through like other countries do.

Posting this for anyone getting their medical done in Stockholm- my fiance had his today. Well, first he had his chest xray a couple weeks ago and managed to just walk in and get an appointment that day (I guess he was one of the lucky ones who didn't have to wait). At the medical today, they took his height, did an eye test, took some blood, and he got a tetanus and flu shot. He was in and out in an hour! But yikes, do these fees and expenses add up quickly... and we haven't even gotten to the AOS application...
