Nice :D Welcome aboard FinnLove!

Thanks!!!!!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

I was living in Stockholm so I saw the Stockholm doctor but I think there is someone in Malmo as well. If you are not from Stockholm, the Embassy can probably schedule your DR appointment on the same day as your interview (which always is in Stockholm) so that you don't have to travel twice - just send them an email or call them and ask! The staff there is really friendly.

OK,Thank you for your quick reply!

Malmö would be even further away,I'm up north..

I'm still a long way from my interview but I just wanted to check my options. When the time comes I'll follow your advise and see if the embassy can set up an appointment the same day!

Thanks again!

HI, I have a question about the police certificate and it would be great to hear some advice.

so heres the problem..

I've been to spain for about a year all together but in shorter periods of time around 3 months at a time. I never offically moved my address to spain but i did work there, i had a bank account, paid taxes... in finland the goverment couldn't find any records of me ever being in spain cause my address was in finland for all that time.

so do I need to get a police certificate from spain in this case? I already got one from finland and the netherlands and i'm assuming if i get one from spain that it would take them forever to send me one! mañana mañana ... :)

I don't think you do. I think you only have to if you have lived in another country for 6 or more consecutive months. And I guess only if you were unregistered from Finland. Best thing would probably be to check with the US embassy though and see what they really need for the interview. My guess is however that you won't need it.

thanks for the quick answer Freyja, I'm hopeing that I don't need one but I'll check with the embassy anyway to be sure like you said.

by the way...Do earlier visas to the states effect the k-1? I've lived in the states before for about 4 years but that was years ago.

SanDan: Thanks, voi olla et tulee jonkin verran kysyttävää paperisodan kanssa :)

A question to all you swedes out there, i want to know if my "personbevis" is enough for my birthcertificate, it contains everything, or do i need the real deal ?

Just get the "personbevis" in english, with the stamps and signatures on it and that would be sufficient.

You can get it from either just walking in to "Skatteverket" or calling their number and requesting it sent to you.

Call Skatteverket and tell them you need a "Personbevis 120 med alla relationer" in English. If you ask them they will stamp and sign it for you, American authorities love stamps....
