I have only flown once and that was with Norwegian. Only just over 550 USD back and forth between CPH and LAX (including check-in bag) and the flight was so smooth and comfortable. And I didn't have to change planes or anything, I really couldn't be more happy and will definitely fly with them next time too.

But just like with all other airlines it gets more expensive in summer of course. If you don't have a specific date you have to travel then I would probably recommend to get a "last minute" ticket, if possible.

//Janni

My wife and 2 kids went with Norwegian.

And if you don´t expect to much it´s more then fine overseas.

Something i don't like that you need to bring your own cover etc.

But it was cheap, i think we payed $1500 for them in total.

This seems like i nice price from Denmark to Orlando.

Will need to pay a little maybe for 2 bags and a golf bag :)

But still.

attachicon.gifScreenshot_3.jpg

That seems like a very good price. :) I haven't realized that you're moving to Florida, Soeren. Is Sarasota nice? My husband and I are considering whether or not to move to Tampa or maybe Orlando. If you like sun, heat and sea, nothing beats Florida. :)

Yeah that was something I was super worried about too. I am lucky in a way because I work in a school so when school's out I'm off. Bad thing is that I get paid by the hour so when school is out, like during snow days etc, I don't get paid :P My husband got 3 weeks off, when he started he only got 2 weeks. My husband has 15 days that he can take whenever he wants and then he is off 11 federal holidays a year.

I'm mostly worried about when we decide to have a baby... In Sweden I'd be able to be home a year and here it's like 6-9 weeks or something like that. I don't want my super tiny baby to go be with a nanny. I've been an au pair, I have met other au pairs and nanny's, I know how bad they can be.... Some are great, some not so much.

Yeah I'm really worried about all that. I have 2 educations here one which is really good here but over there they are worth nothing so I'm not sure what kind of job I can get.

Yeah the big question. I really want a baby bad haha but if I'm having a baby over there then I want to stay at home till it has to go to school and I'm not sure that is possible. I can't leave my baby - helicopter mom here I have to admit ;)

That's not too bad. So in the US, do you get the vacation days your first year of working there or you have to work a year and earn them before you can start using them?

Yeah, this is something that really worries me too. I mean you hear such horror stories. But then again they do have a lot of federal holidays, so maybe that makes up for it a little bit.

Yes, there's a lot of cool stuff to do in Iceland. The Blue Lagoon, nature's amazing, you can go whale watching. If you go like December to mid-March, you can usually see the Northern Lights outside Reykjavik. It's a pretty cool place.

Are they good to fly with long-haul, Iceland Air? I've never actually flown with them but was thinking of flying with them with a stop over so I get to see Iceland again. It's so beautiful there.

Not all get to be off on federal holidays, mostly it's government workers.

;) The family lives there and i like sun better then snow.

We will make Sarasota our base the first years and see where to go next.

My wife like north US but i didn't move from Denmark to go back to cold weather :)

And Sarasota is so fare south, that we don't get tornadoes, think the last time they got one is more the 25-30 years ago.

So that's good :)

But where to live, is also about what you want to do for living.

I´m IT so i can work all the places :)

Correct, some are off on federal holidays and some are not. And sometimes you just get a certain amount of all the federal holidays off.

It is doable, just takes some sacrifices. I do it, well, I am doing it until next year when the youngest will have to go to daycare a couple of hours a day so I can go to classes. They are letting me go one afternoon a week now, but that won't fly next year. As soon as I'm done with school hopefully we will have more kids and I can focus on staying home and not studying. :goofy: My husband is all for this because he knows if I worked, I wouldn't make him rugbrød every week.

This is where it hit and i believe that's the most south it´s been for years :) (The big red marked area)

I have a deal with my wife, that she can go home part time, after not been working for 9 years.

But if we want to get settle fast and better, we need to money the first years.

Even that we dont have to pay rent for a year, we still want the money :)
