Finally got my husband's new signed i-864. Coming up on 17 months of our visa journey and I think this is the fifth i-864 we send in. Please keep your fingers crossed that this is the final thing they need to issue the visa and that I get my visa this week. Not sure how much more we can take of this.

I had my interview last Thursday. I don't want to talk about it, haha. I'm just glad it's over!

So, I was missing a document concerning my fiance's current income and a letter from his employer stating when he was hired, what his job entails etc. Beyond this, I was deemed "approved".
How long does it usually take for them to send out the visa after they get the necessary paperwork? My fiance put it on express mail last Friday, for them to receive it on Wednesday (tomorrow) at the earliest and on Friday at the latest.

Oh I think we all know that feeling of relief once the interview's over.

The US embassy in Sweden's pretty fast and efficient. Count about two days for your status to update and then I believe you'll get the visa within a week.

Did you guys keep your bank account(s) in your home country when moving to the States?

I just got an email from my bank back home, wanting me to fill out either a W-8 or a W-9 and send to them. I DON'T want to be double-taxed / pay taxes of my savings from Denmark (I've already paid taxes off of my earnings - obviously - back home). I'm also very confused whether I should fill out the W-8 or W-9? I'm assuming I will have to fill out the W-8 since we're not married yet?

What did you guys do?

(Going to call the bank tomorrow however I don't expect them to be able to guide me since this really is more a question about immigration)

You can keep your bank account and it doesn't affect your taxes. You're not allowed to keep any stocks though, like ISK or aktiedepå.

We've kept the bank account and it does not impact taxes to my knowledge. However, our Danish account is under 10k usd and I know that there is a FBAR limit of 10k for notifying the US government. Be aware that I think you need to report interest income as well. It might be something worth reading further into or checking with your accountant about.

Yea that's what I've been able to find while researching on Google as well. I have well above that, calling the bank tomorrow. Might have to transfer the money ASAP once I can open my US Bank account.

Yea I had forgot the bank gave me some stocks as a present for opening the account back in the day. Gotta get that taken care of :/

I have mine still but I will close it as I have to pay a silly monthly fee and I don't have much money on it. I just have to wait until after the tax period is done so they can figure out what money I will get back from them and I don't want to close down my account in the meantime.

Is there any way to check your case status with the USCIS without calling them? In the NOA1 email we got it said to check the status on the USCIS website, but that doesn't work - it only tells us the receipt number is invalid. Is there some other place you can check it?
