AOS is what you petition for when you've gotten married within the 90 days in the US so you can get your 2 year green card, right? I've seen people talk about "AP" and "EAD" too, what are those and what do you need them for? It's a bit confusing to me.

Yes, Adjustment of Status (AOS) is what you file for to get a Green Card. You should also file for Advance Parole (AP) and Employment Authorization Document (EAD) with your AOS. If you do, they are included in the price of AOS and you won't have to pay for it separately. EAD will give you the right to work while waiting for your green card. It's recommended to get it since it takes about 90 days to get your EAD but it can take up to a year or longer for your Green Card to arrive. You can't work without either the EAD or Green Card.

I strongly recommend getting the Advance Parole, it's a travel document that gives you permission to leave the US to go travel or visit family. Even though you might not be planning on visiting your family during the time you wait for you Green Card you never know what will happen at home. Things can change quickly (trust me), someone in your family gets sick etc, and you don't want to get stuck having to get an Emergency Travel Authorization to going back home to visit.

Annoying, I understand but I'm sure it will work out for you, Hopefully, its just something small that they don't understand and just need some clarification on

The EAD isn't very important to me as I don't have to work, but like you say, Maria, the AP might be good to have just in case.

So basically there's no point in only doing the AOS and not the other two, the price will still be the same and you get less out of it.

A question to everyone who's already had a visa issued from the US embassy in Sweden. What expiration date did you get on the visa? Was it six months from the time the visa was printed, six months from the date of the interview or six months from the date of the medical? On VJ, I've read people talking about the visa being valid for six months after the medical but then on the US embassy's website it's says the visa will be valid for six months after being issued???

Also, for anyone who's gotten a 221(g). What address did you send the response to? We need to send in more info now and of course I didn't take a copy of that address label they give you. I still have my postnord paper but I thought there was a P.O box in the address as well or is it just as below?

Both your medical and your police certificate are valid for six months only. Your visa will be valid until the date where the oldest of these expire. Eg. if your police cert is from Jan, your medical from March, and you are approved in May, then your visa will be valid until July.

I got approved Nov 11 and my k1 would expire Feb 28 because my medical was quite a bit earlier than the interview.

To be honest I'm not sure what they use to determine when the CR1 is to expire. It's roughly 6 months. For example, my visa was issued on May 24th and expired Nov 21st. My medical was on April 13 so if that was the cut off date then my visa should have expired oct 13. My interview was in May but on the 16th I believe so that date doesn't make sense either.

For K1 visa I know that the visa will expire when the medical expires but CR1 seems to have its own rules

Your doctor is incorrect about that (if he was talking about K-1 at least). The validity of a K-1 is a maximum of 6 months (one reference of this is https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/family/fiance-k-1.html#14),but it may be shorter. I'm not sure if the validity periods of medicals and police certificates are the same at all embassies, but in Sweden they are 6 months.

I did some checking, and I took my chest x-ray (the first part of my medical exam, the consultation with the doctor was over a week later) on the 25th or 26th of Aug (not quite sure which) and my K-1 has an expiry date of Feb 26th, pretty close to the 6 month limit.
