Does Sweden allow for dual citizenship? Norway doesn't. I know Denmark just changed the laws on that and allows it now.

My danish kid have been a US citizen for the past 7-8 years. So cant be a new thing.

Soeren, then your kid have been an illegal Dane. Denmark just changed their law recently to allow dual citizenship. But it's not like countries check with other countries, so it's virtually impossible for a country to find this out anyway.

Yes Sweden allow dual citizenship. Only thing is that my kids will have to send in some forms to Sweden, I think at the age of 21 that they want to keep their Swedish citizenship, unless they actually live there for a period of time.

Well hope not.

He is born in denmark and got his us passport 7-8 years ago.

We even asked the state and they never said nothing about.

Can be that its the other way around, that you cant get the danish before.

But it dont matter now

It could also be that he's allowed the dual citizenship because he's a kid - afaik if I have children here in the US they can have dual citizenship until they're 18, then Norway will make them choose one. Unless the law changes, of course... Come on, Norway!

Norway allows dual citizenship only if you're entitled to it at birth. Naturalization in the U.S. still means revoking your Norwegian citizenship by default.

The new Danish law went into effect two months ago:

So i just looked in to it.

If you before 01 sep 2015 was a danish citizen, you would have to give up that to be us citizen.

Now there is no problem either way.

And there have not been a problem for 20 some years to have us citizen and get danish citizen.

The information is from danish websites and i called my wife´s dad, he is us citizen but lived in denmark for 30 years.

We finally have the Medical and Interview scheduled, omg such relief. Medical on 12/16 and have to wait until 01/14 for the interview but I'm just glad we finally have dates schedule.
