Hello Everyone,

Any Norwegians out there that know exactly how much medical examination will cost? including x-ray and blood work. I know that the cost of the vaccinations vary. any information will be very helpful.

Thanks everyone!

  • X-ray at Unilabs: 1200,-
  • Blood work and shot: Depends, i did mine at a private doc so paid a bit more for the consultation. Say about 450,- for the shot (I only had to do tetanus) and the blood test + 20 min consultation. Came out to about 1000,- for private doc. More if you also need to take the MMR vaccine.
  • Appointment at panel physician (only one in Norway is in Oslo): 3000,-.

If you do the tetanus shot at the panel physician in Oslo at the same time as your medical, it's only 100 kr. 450 kr for a tetanus shot sounds insane! I also got my bloodwork for free at Ullevål due to accidentally walking in the wrong entrance (B instead of A in the building you're supposed to go to), ended up at the place for people needing vaccinations before going abroad instead of the blood work place. If I had walked in the right entrance it still would have only been around 100kr.

Ullevål only has drop in as far as I know, so you could end up having to wait for a while if you decide going there. Going early in the morning seemed to be a good call no one were there and I walked straight in, but by the time I was done the waiting room had filled up completely.

Does anyone know if having depression (mild) will affect the medical exam? Do they get your pass records or they just do the exam on your appointment date with now pass records? Anyone ever had this issue?

Thanks,

So is it better to do the X-ray and Blood work @ the Panel Physician in Olso?

Thanks,

You can't do those at the panel physician, the x-ray needs to be done at unilabs or that other place I don't remember the name of (sorry :P). The bloodwork I'm not sure about, the whole process is like a blur to me now since there were so many things to remember! I think you can do the bloodwork wherever, at your GP, a private doc or hospital. I did mine at Ullevål which I definitely recommend. The tetanus shot, if you need it, can be done at the panel physicial for a small fee on top of the 3000 kr.

I still have my receipts!

This one's for the panel physician, 3000 kr for the medical exam and the 100 kr (forbruksmateriell) is for the tetanus shot:

And here's the X-ray receipt:

So that's how much it costs! If you do the blood work at Ullevål, add an extra 100 or 200 kr, or walk through the wrong door like me and get it for free :P

I don't think depression is a cause of visa denial if that's what you're worried about. Everyone has rough times in their lives and lots of people get depression. I think honesty is the best policy and as long as you're not "a danger to yourself or others" you're fine. What's pass records?

I think they're more concerned with the spread of certain diseases.

Is it really that much to do the medical exam in Norway? I'm assuming it is covered, or are the embassy approved physicians all private? I paid 125 dollars (620-1000 kroner, 1000 right now because of the ridiculously weak krone) for mine in the US. You'd think it would be the other way around price wise.

03-16-2015: Entered the US under VWP

06-05-2015: Concurrent filing I-130 and I-485

06-11-2015: Notification of receipt

06-19-2015: NoA Biometrics appointment notice

07-06-2015: Biometrics appointment

08-11-2015: NoA Interview date + I-693 needed

08-28-2015: Full medical for I-693
09-14-2015: Interview (Approved - IR-6!!)

09-21-2015: Welcome Letter received

09-22-2015: Permanent Resident Card in hand!
