I need your help

I got the checklist, it says: birth certificate has to state the date and place of birth for both of my parents...

On the Danish birth certificates it does not state any of that, just their names...

What should I do?

It isn't a problem. They are familiar with Danish birth certificates.

Hello everyone! I haven't been on here for ages but it's nice to see some fellow Scandinavians on here.

The blue customs forms are for everyone though Dulles now have kiosks so people who come on ESTA can use kiosks.

I have no idea why we were given a cd with our chest x-rays. Have never seen them mentioned before so I was quite surprised when I was handed one. Don't think anyone wants them as the only people who are able to interpret them are educated in how to interpret xrays. Plus it already says on the form that my lungs were clear. I did bring the cd in my checked bag just in case it for some reason is needed though I doubt it.

It's not as efficient but just putting it up against a light should work too Pretty cool to have though!

I'm a virgin K-1 poster who've been secretly reading up on your experiences for a few months ;-) Thanks for all your valuable posts, and congratulations to everyone who is approved/landed in the US etc!

My fiancé and I are only in the process of preparing the I129F, but I have a (series of) question(s) for further down the line. This one is especially for the Norwegian filers on here.

Birth certificate! So, when we order the birth certificate from Skatteetaten, we can choose to get it in "multiple languages", this includes English. Is this version of the birth certificate sufficient for:

a) The K1 interview

b) AOS

c) To obtain a marriage license in the US (when notarized)

Or, does it need to be translated "again"?

I hope this question isn't too silly.

I'm not Norwegian but I think I can at least answer the last one: lots of states don't require a birth certificate so you might want to double check if you really need one. For example in Virginia you only need an ID and a social security number.

I think you should be able to use the same birth certificate for the whole process. Unless Norway is a bit like Sweden who doesn't really have a proper birth certificate just a paper that says what city you live in, who your parents are etc then you might want to get a newer version for AOS just to be on the safe side. But if it's a proper birth certificate you're fine. I'll let your fellow Norwegians confirm that

Welcome to the thread, and congrats on starting your journey!

The multi language birth certificate is what I used for my K1 interview, and it was accepted without question. I can't remember if there are two different birth certificates - just make sure to get the one that will have your parents' names on it.

I assume it will also be good for AOS, if not then I don't know what to do...

Like Maria said, you might not need it to get a marriage license, depending on the state where you're seeking the license. I just got mine here in Texas, and all I needed was valid ID (passport).

Unfortunately, it looks like Michigan requires a (notarized) birth certificate to obtain a marriage license for foreigners. I'll look into that more carefully I guess :-)

Wow, that's really cool! My fiancé lives in Detroit, but he grew up in Lansing (Okemos). His parents still live there, so I've been there several times to visit. It's really nice up there :-)

Congratulations and good luck on your move and upcoming wedding! Oh, speaking of... Can I ask how/where you're doing your wedding? I know I'm not supposed to plan it before the visa, but I can't help but browse around for nice spots in Michigan anyway...

First we were planning on having the wedding at his family´s cottage by Silver lake (close to Muskegon and lake Michigan it´s really beautiful out there) but there´s so little time to plan for a wedding and I like to be able to file for AOS as soon as possible so now we plan to just go to the court house as soon as possible and just have a barbecue at our house afterwards for closest friends and family. We´re planning on having a bigger wedding next summer or a wedding in Sweden later on.

Where did you guys meet? When are you planning on sending the I-129F?
