I am possibly the most stupid person here on VJ....

I just figured out that I put my fiancé as my immediate relative on the DS-160..... Omg!

So now I made a new DS-160 and send them an email explaining why and what went wrong. I just hope that they aren't too strict about all this.. And I hope that I am not the first person who made this stupid mistake..

The reason why I did it, is bc it said in the right side of the page that a immediate relative could be a fiancé, sibling or similar... So I thought it was the right thing to put a yes there.... I'm just so annoyed with my self...

Do you guys think they will look at it like something major problem?

I'm pretty sure that's what I did and no one said anything. It says it can be your fiance so that's what I wrote :P

You'll be fine. Only bring one confirmation page and they will ignore the other one.

Something good just happened.. My email on my iPad don't work, so the second email I sent never got to them! So now they can only see my first message I sent.. Good!

I sent them this:

To the United States embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.

I have just figured out that I've made a BIG error on my DS-160!

I wrongly put my fiancé as my immediate relative. Which is not right. I thought I had to put him there, because that was the option to put your fiancé as the only contact in usa.

I am so confused now!

Can this in any way get changed ? He is not in any way a relative to me or anybody in my family.

Please help!

Sincerely

Camilla Sejling

Now I sent them this, do you think it will clear up the confusion?

To the United States embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.

I am writing to you because I sent an email on the ustraveldoc page earlier today. I was writing the email in a confused state of mind.

The email contains this message:

To the United States embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.

I have just figured out that I've made a BIG error on my DS-160!

I wrongly put my fiancé as my immediate relative. Which is not right. I thought I had to put him there, because that was the option to put your fiancé as the only contact in usa.

I am so confused now!

Can this in any way get changed ? He is not in any way a relative to me or anybody in my family.

Camilla Sejling

My DS-160 confirmation number is: AA********

___________

After I sent this email I researched online and found that the "immediate relative" question, was answered right.

I thought that I had answered the question wrong, because I thought that a relative is a person who is born into the family. So therefore I got very confused and immediately thought that I had made a big error on the DS-160. Now it is clear to me that a immediate relative can also mean a fiancé.

I am very sorry for my confusing email I sent earlier, and I hope that this email can clear up the confusion.

Please let me know if this has any effect on my case. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Camilla Sejling

Ps. My DS-160 number is still AA********

Only if you want to use the new one. Now that you know that the old one is correct, it's fine to use that one and you can just keep the old confirmation.

I don't think you did. Considering their sometimes confusing questions I am sure you're not the only one freaking out over an answer. Some of the questions are so strangely formulated it's easy to over analyze them etc. Good luck :)
