Well, I can't exactly blame Dulles I guess, but since my fiancée is down in the VA beach area I always fly in there. First them I flew to then boyfriend I was 16 and the immigration line was absolutely horrible, they only had 3 border control people working a line of like 300 people and I ended up missing my connecting flight to Norfolk. This has happened twice, even though I always make sure to have at least 2.5 hours for layovers. I fly SAS and they always get in at 3pm so we're always battling rush hour... Only the first time was truly heartbreaking because I was so young and it was my first time in the big ol' US and I had absolutely noooo clue how to proceed. I thought I was stranded in D.C and almost cried my way to United's help desk where they put me on the next flight

Last time I flew into Dulles they had finally put the machine things in, and it was super smooth. Printed my receipt and the officer only asked me how long I was staying and sent me on my way. Love/hate :D

Awww :) Glad it was an easy fix and they could just put you on the next flight :) Yeah, I have flown into DC on SAS once and never again. Will never do the mistake of flying in during rush hour. 20+ flights in customs at the same time and barely any CBP officers :P I prefer coming home with Icelandair at 7:10pm and it's practically empty :)

And yes, the new machines makes it soooo much smoother :)

Omg that does sound like a breeze! I considered doing Icelandair for this exact reason.. Also, oneway tickets are more like $500 as opposed to SAS $1700

Yes, they're much cheaper and it's nice coming in at that time. There's just a few international flights arrivals around that time but you barely notice because (in my experience) when they arrive into customs you're already out. Only downside with icelandair is that food is not provided and is expensive to buy. I usually just have a meal at the airport and bring some snacks and I'm good :)

I don't have my interview scheduled yet, but I'm preparing for it :)

You that have already had their interview what can you recommend using as proof of ongoing relationship ?

And for the affidavit of support, does he need to send me anything else than:

Form I-134

Pay stubs for the last 4-5 months

W-2 for the last 3 years

Tax papers for the last 3 yeas

Statement from employer x2

Anything else ?

Thanks :)

Sounds like you're all set! I actually think that in the packet 4 instructions from the embassy they only require the latest tax return (2014 that is), but I guess it won't hurt if you bring them all! I don't plan on bringing too much seeing as Sweden is pretty low-fraud. I printed out a couple of pictures from our latests trips, have flight itineraries, a screen shot of facetime calls and our official engagement announcement to friends and family

I think if your fiancé is making more than the minimum it shouldn't be needed, especially seeing as you're providing them with 3 years worth of tax returns which is the ultimate proof of true income

Done with the interview! It went well, I got there early and was out a few minutes before the actual scheduled time. Everyone at the embassy was very nice and friendly so that put me at ease for the most part. Long story short, we are ALMOST approved - but I need to mail in one additional thing, an original translation of my birth certificate, the translation I had wasn't valid cause it was signed by the translator then scanned then emailed to me since I couldn't find a Latvian translator in Sweden. I tasked my parents back in Latvia with acquiring that and mailing it to me asap and they're already on it! But the interviewer said we have a strong case and basically as soon as they receive the translation of the birth certificate I will be good to go. It's such a relief :)

For proof of relationship I brought flight itineraries and scans of boarding passes, photos of us together, screenshots of Facebook(engagement post, messages where it shows we've exchanged almost 11000 messages on Facebook alone), skype call logs and a printout of the Amazon order from when I got Chris a gift for our anniversary. I figured better bring extra stuff rather than too little proof.

Oh and our NOA2 expiration date was June 8th and I had brought letters of intent written last week by both of us but they never asked about them. And they didn't ask for Personbevis either but I'm guessing that's cause I'm not swedish, just applying here.

Hi all.

I just received my STK number, and I filled out the DS-160 online and confirmed it.. Then I went to the ustraveldoc page and payed the visa fee.... Haven't scheduled an interview yet though..

Did I do this a little too fast?

They haven't received my case at the embassy yet..

I know I need to wait to schedule the interview until I receive the email with instructions..

But was it okay to pay the fee now ?

I filled out the DS-160, payed and booked the interview on June 20th, three days after I got the case number from NVC. At that point I didn´t even know if it had left NVC... So I was a lot worse than you, but I was just so exited and couldn´t wait... :D I called NVC the coming monday and found out that it had left on the 19th and with the DHL trick I found it arrived at the embassy on Monday the 22nd. I did though receive an email from the embassy on Monday morning saying that they hadn´t received my case and that I couldn´t have my interview if they hadn´t received it. I emailed them back that I knew that they would receive my case that same day or the day after and asked if I could still keep my scheduled interview date. They then said "You may keep it at your own risk, knowing that if you have not received a confirmation email by us you will not be interviewed that day". I received the check list 2 days later... Interview date is July 16th.

To make a long story short... I don´t think you jumped the gun, but maybe wait until the embassy has received your case to book the interview. :)

I've a probably really dumb question. When they said they need an original translation of my birth certificate, they gave me a shipping label for when I mail the missing document in, it has their address on it and the little square that says no stamp is needed and that recipient pays postage. But in the document that explains how to mail it, it says 'Please mail in the original documents with the provided shipment label. Please note that the envelope can only be sent as registered mail within Sweden.' I'm puzzled about the registered mail part, do I just glue/tape the shipping label on a regular envelope and put it in a mail collection box or do I have to do anything besides that?
