I just realized I have one more question before I am ready for my interview... Am I allowed to open the envelope with my police records? I haven't seen any info that I am not allowed so I assume I am? I just want to make sure because when I applied to join the military I was NOT allowed to open the envelope. So I am not sure what the protocol is for police records :P

I haven't seen anything either, and hopefully it's ok, because I've opened mine... :P I had to doublecheck that they'd sent me the English language one, not the Norwegian. I have my interview in two days, so I guess I'll know soon. ;)

Then you can tell me if they're okay with it ;) But I haven't seen anyone mentioning that they couldn't do it. Guess I'll open it then :)

Good luck with your interview! Super exciting! :D

I don't know if it helps, but in the IR1 process they want a photocopy of the police report at the NVC stage so it should be fine.

Thank you so much!! I hope the payment goes through soon??? You guys have waited a long time! I hope it goes smoothly :-) awesome!! I have to wait with interview till june since the medical is so slow here in denmark. 3 weeks wait for appointment and 14 days for result and then shipping it. But thanks so much:-)!!! Did you receive an email with package 3 or letter with real mail? Sorry for all the questions. We arent that many scandinavians around that is doing the k1 visa so i feel desperate for little answers hehe:-) Camilla

Camilla, did you schedule the xray at the same time as the medical in Copenhagen? The lady at the medical office was not giving me a lot of information when I called, she just told me to look at their website :( It's not possible to book the medical without the case being done at the NVC right?

Hi everyone! I wish I'd known about this site before i went through the whole K1 process, I skimmed through the last pages of this thread and you all seem so organized and on top of everything! I got my visa last month, but I almost made some awful mistakes, worst one being that I waited too long to fill out my D-160 and schedule my interview at the embassy in Stockholm. Since I had no idea you could pick the date yourself I waited until I had absolutely everything, even after my medical exam, so when I finally scheduled my interview there was only one date left within the validity of the petition! Thankfully it all went smoothly, and now I have my visa and a ticket to Seattle on July 29th. Spending my days working and waiting to move, can't believe this is finally happening! Good luck to everyone having their interviews soon!

Yes it is possible! I told her my case was at the NVC and ready to be sent off. But the wait for a medical is so long in denmark that i said i needed it booked and im going on tuesday. It was no problem! Just explain it to her. She said if my interview date is not till end july i should wait but she said get it done now since u havent gotten any interview date and if thats the case u might have to do a new one. But she said its better to have it than u having to delay ur interview cause they have a 3-4 weeks wait for an appointment here in denmark for a medical. As soon as u got ur medical appointment you call the xray clinic and tell them u are doing a k1 visa and u have a medical scheduled and they will schedule an xray the same day as ur medical. My xray is tuesday 9:15. My medical is at 10. Do u need info on the xray clinic? :-)) Camilla

First of CONGRATS!! :-))) so maybe you can help me?? My case arrived at thr embassy in stockholm, so the ceac tracker says. But i havent heard anything from stockholm, ( im from denmark). I have already gathered all my papers and my fiances affidavit etc etc. I have my medical on tuesday. Do i need to wait for the embassy to send me a checklist or info that they have my case? Or can i just fill out my ds 160 and schedule an interview?? Im SOOO scared of doing anything right now, i dont want to mess it all up, so im waiting to hear anything from the embassy?! My US fiance says i should wait for "packet 3" from the embassy. But i already know what papers i need and i have them. What if the embassy schedules for me? Or i dont know. Im scared to go ahead when i havent heard anything from stockholm. And i tried calling them but all i get is in voice messages. Long story short, did you recieve an email or anything from stockholm after your case had left NVC? Camilla copenhagen :-)

Just sent you a PM and I think you're fine! Like I said there, I never received anything from the embassy personally before the interview, they just sent the checklist to my fiance and that's all. As long as you have the Case ID number (starts with STK for Stockholm) stated in the checklist email it means they have your case and you'll be fine! Good luck on scheduling the interview!!

When assembling my interview papers, the thing I struggled with the most was definitely the police certificates... Getting one from Norway was really easy, but since I've lived in the UK for four years I needed one from there too, and wow, what an ordeal. Managed in the end, but it took so long it was probably a good thing I waited until it was almost too late with scheduling my interview.

No problem at all, I'm glad to help! We're all in the same boat here, so it's nice to be able to talk about it with someone else who gets it, none of my friends and family have a clue what I'm talking about when I try to vent, haha! My interview was March 12th and the visa was originally issued March 16th, so it went really fast! However it took a little longer for me to get my visa packet in the mail since it looks like the embassy made a mistake with my original visa. In my passport I actually have two K1 visas, one issued March 16th that has been cancelled and one issued March 19th, they got the expiry date wrong in the one dated 16th so I assume they had to cancel it and start over again. Gave me a scare though since when I opened the passport it opened on the cancelled visa first, so I just saw a visa with a giant stamp over it saying "CANCELLED WITHOUT PREJUDICE". A quick google search told me it's nothing to worry about and it won't affect my visa at all, phew!

It went very well, completely smooth! I got there at 8 am and was done and approved by 8:45. All my documents were approved (opened police certificate, divorce decree translated by coworker) and I got all my proof back. For proof I brought photos, receipt for wedding bands, Skype log and boarding passes. The lady who interviewed me was really nice, and said I'd have my visa and passport back in 14 days or less. Now I just need to book my ticket! :D

Glad to hear that opening the police certificate was fine! I opened it yesterday because I was getting nervous about showing up there with a not translated paper.

We realized yesterday that Seve has done some minor mistakes on the affidavit of support. We have decided to not freak out and just bring the original with the errors on and then a corrected one he sent me by email. He wrote VS instead of VA under county. And he wrote the county he was born in instead of country. Both information can be backed up by other evidence we have plus the copy of his birth certificate. I will assume they have some tolerance for human error :P

I am so glad that so many Scandinavians are at this stage (either passed interview or pre-interview) so we can ask questions and help each other out. I will definitely stay on here for quite some while after this process is over :)

I am sure the errors on the I-134 is totally okay since u will be showing the birth certificate! :-)
