My fiancé called the Dr's office and left a message with his name and phone number. They texted back and asked him to email them at info@emigrationmedical.com. He heard back via email the next day and had an appointment within a week.

Maybe call them?

Apparently complaining online helps - they emailed me about half an hour after you'd replied! They initially gave me an appointment in 2 days from now, but I had to change it to right after Easter. Thanks for the suggestions though! :)

I'm sorry, I have all the questions here it seems... I just had my bloodwork and x-rays done, and have scheduled my medical for April 8. Do any of you know if I can go ahead and pay for the visa and schedule my interview before I've actually had the medical, or do I need to/should I wait? I just wanna make sure I get my interview before the summer holidays start in Sweden...

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive place to stay near the Swedish embassy?

It is possible to fly to Stockholm early in the morning (prior to interview), but I am thinking it would be better to arrive the night before.

Here's the info that's posted by the embassy in Stockholm via a link on the nvc.state.gov site:

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS – GENERAL GUIDELINES

All immigrant visa applicants are required to obtain certain vaccinations prior to the issuance of the immigrant visa. You may need to have one or more of the vaccinations listed below, depending on your age. The panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are required to verify that applicants have met the vaccination requirements, or that it is medically inappropriate for the visa applicant to receive the required vaccinations. If born after 1956, Diphtheria/Tetanus (within the last 10 years) and MMR are always required. The other listed vaccinations may be required for specific age groups. The panel physicians can give you more information.

*Mumps *Measles *Rubella Meningococcal

*Polio Pertussis Rotavirus Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids

Hepatitis B *Varicella Hepatitis A Influenza type b (Hib)

*Contraindicated for pregnant woman and immune-deficient individuals.

I believe that the flu shot is only needed if the medical/interview falls during flu season.

Here's the link to the nvc site so you can always check for the most up to date information:

I'm pretty sure you don't need the Hep A as an adult, but if you're not sure there is no point in getting them ahead of time. You can just bring your vaccine records with you. From my recollection, it was just MMR, TD in the last 5 years, flu if in season, and confirmation of chicken pox.

I don't know why my husband only got the TD booster from his doctor (which he did before the medical appointment) because now he has to go back and get the one with pertussis here in order to protect the baby from getting it. Seems silly they didn't just do TDaP.

This exact thing happened to me as well. I just had to get the TDAP because we are having a baby.

They make you get it each pregnancy at my practice to be on the safe side. An infant with whooping cough is a disturbing thing to witness.

I think you'll need TD (or TDaP), but shouldn't need MMR if you have been previously immunized. My husband's last one was 16 years before the exam.

I just called the medicals office, the ones who are gonna preform my medical at some point, to ask if i should do my Tdap vaccine before the medical just so its done. She said Absolutely Not. Under no circumstance should i do that cause it messes up the medical. Dont ask me why really. Not sure why. And its not to make extra money cause they are actually the cheapest ones for that vaccine. She said they will preform that and what ever i need when i go to my medical. So no vaccines in advance. Dont know if you should do the same? If in doubt maybe call the medicals office thats gonna do ur medical and make sure first? :-)

I think they might have lied to you because my husband got his TD booster for free from his GP the week before the medical and it was no problem.

That was Aarhus though.

I'd check with the panel physician's office first - I was told to get vaccines done beforehand if I could, as we have a public vaccination office for just that. I got the Tdap booster. I guess the different offices have their different routines. :)

Oh but I have never had the Tdap at all. So its my very first. So i wont get it for free either way:-) they said it would mess up the paper work. The price is way cheaper at their office then at my own doctor so im sure they are truthful. Just not sure why still i couldnt just get it over with now? Its all weird systems. Praise the day noone has to have head spin over this anymore but just what to eat for dinner haha!

My panel i called this morning and they told me to absolutely not do anything in before hand. that it will all be okay at the medical. Maybe the are bored and just want someone to poke with a needle ;-) i give up on trying to figure all these legal places out. The make me sleepless every night

Renatesol: did you get to schedule your own interview or was it done for you from the Embassy? Curious. Cause my medical has a wait of 3-4 weeks, so i would like to schedule my own interview so i wont be in trouble for not being able to do my medical before the interview :-/ and did you book ur medical as soon as u had your NVC number or did u get info from the Swedish embassy? Couldnt find an answer at the Swedish embassy. :-))
