If memory serves me right I went to Skatteverkets office in Västerås and asked for a personbevis printed out in English. I want to say they knew which one I needed for this specific purpose. It has three pages: one with information about me, one with information about my mom and one page with information about my dad.

USCIS just handed me an RFE because my personbevis isn't sufficient. Where did you guys obtain the right one? Yes, I am born before 1991.

Available. Birth records for persons born after July 1, 1991 are called "Personbevis", and are issued by the local office of Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), covering the applicant's place of residence at the time of birth. (If place of birth is unknown, apply for the birth record through 'Riksregistret' at the Swedish Tax Agency.) The complete version should state the applicant's date and place of birth, the names of both parents, their marital status and their date of marriage, if applicable. Birth records for persons born before July 1, 1991 can be obtained both from the parish office (Pastorsambetet) in the parish of the applicant's birth and from the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket)

travel.state.gov

I got received mine from "det lokale kirkekontor" (sogn/parish) where I lived. They send a danish-english translation. Ordered it online, came within a week to my US address. Hopefully USCIS won't RFE it because that's how they look

I guess that I should add that we sent a copy and not an original. Perhaps this is the hiccup and nothing else?

Yeah, you have to send in the original. it's got stamps and signatures on it. Next time you order a personbevis, order like 5 of them. They're free and you will eventually have to use them, one by one. :P

The last time I went to the office they gave me three. Now I am all out! I can send my mother down to the office so she can pick up a few more and mail them over with a big package of candy. I miss our precious swedish candy.

Silly mistake to not include the original one.

Hey fellow Scandinavians, I'm putting together our i129-f for the K1 now, and was wondering if any of you frontloaded your petition packages with evidence of ongoing relationship (chat logs, Skype logs etc)? We're including passport stamps, flight itineraries, boarding passes, photos and credit card statements as proof we've met. Is it necessary for the consulate in Sweden to include chat logs etc at this stage, or are we better off holding on to that until the next stage? I don't want to overcomplicate things, but I also don't want to end up getting an RFE. Any advice appreciated. :)

Absolutely no need to front load a Scandinavian petition. Include proof you met (boarding passes and passport stamps, etc) and a couple of pictures together and you'll be approved. We did an I-129f first and it was approved with just that, we got married before we were done and our DCF I-130 was sent to Sweden with no evidence and we were asked for none. I would still include a tiny bit of stuff, but don't bother with chat logs.

Thanks, that's a great help! I was getting kind of overwhelmed with editing our 1000 page chat log... I'll keep it for later, in case it's needed then. :)

Well, the immigrant visa and USC line is not long so that shouldn't be a problem. If you are standing in a long line full of Swedes then you've probably queued in the non-immigrant line for visitor and student visas. If you are confused about it just shout to the guard when he comes out "is this the right places to stand for immigrant and K1 visas?" Is your daughter a USC?

I think it took 45 minutes or so for us. Mind you, this was 14 months ago, but the process is pretty painless.

For the first time ever has gone fast!! Sent in our paperwork for our new green cards in may. According to uscis website it would be a long wait as usual. But we got the cards last week, the whole thing took 2 months. So now I guess we could relax for 10 years before we have to deal with uscis again...or not! We will file for citizenship next year and then we will be over and done with this forever!

Anyone else going to apply for citizenship when that time comes?

Yes I think I will. I was less sure before, but the more I think about it, I'm thinking it will be worth it. I will always consider myself Swedish first so it is not so much because of patriotism as it is because it's simply practical to apply for citizenship.

See - I'm a lot further behind, but I already know that I'll apply for citizenship on the dot. Before Denmark approved dual citizenships I was hesitant. I didn't wanna give up my danish, but I didn't feel right not applying for the American as I believe I'll spent most of my life here.

Now that Denmark is finally losing up - I know by three years I'll be applying. And I'm happy, because I really like to be able to care for my mother here - and not put her in a home in Denmark when time comes.

Hi hello again! =)

I have a few more questions, this time it's about medical history journals, as I prepare for my interview and medical exam.

Do I need to bring those with me to the interview and medical exam? I have completed all the vaccinations, and got the yellow card, that's not what I'm after here.

I've run into a lot of problems in trying to obtain my own medical history journals from the local hospitals and care centers.

Any Swede out there that has some answers, advice or tips on how obtain one's medical journals?
