I realize I haven't been on here for a while. Me and my son have sent in all the paperwork for the removing of conditions, and we have been to leave our fingerprints so now it is just a long wait again. Hopefully it wont take too long to get the new greencards. Luckily we aren't going to sweden this summer since baby #3 is due any day.

Someone said that the process time was officially 6 months but that it can take up to a year! Who knows we might be applying for our citizenship before we have the new green cards in hand lol

1: how long does it usually take from noa2 to interview ?

It's been a while since I went through the process so I don't remember this, I'm just going by what's in my timeline here on VJ.

Your I-130 was approved in 152 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 301 days from your I-130 NOA1 date.

I-130 NOA1 : 2011-12-02 I-130 Approved : 2012-05-02 NVC Received :

2012-05-14

Case Completed at NVC : 2012-07-02 Interview Date : 2012-09-28
2: can I start prepare anything or should I wait for embassy to contact me?

Like I said before, it's been about two years since I was at that point in the process. Just get all the documents together, make sure you have enough money saved up for doctor's appointments and such. And be patient! Our case got delayed because the embassy people went on vacation around this time of year (or at least I suspect that is what caused the delay). Be patient but also be prepared to act fast, if you should need to. I would suggest you DO NOT buy plane tickets until you have your passport with the visa in your hand. Typically I'd say the process is pretty smooth for us Scandinavians, but you never know what'll happen.

I'm sure people who have gone through the process more recently have more/better advice. Check other threads besides this one. People from other parts of the world may still have a lot of good advice for you.

3: what does package 3 contain?

Isn't Package 3 information about the interview and doctors appointment and such? I think so.

VJ board member Saylin helped me out a lot. Check this out:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

4: how long is the police record valid for? Can I order it now?
I want to say it's valid for either 6 months or 12 months, but I can't seem to find my stack of papers.
Click the link for the PDF file. There are phone numbers and email addresses you can use to get in touch with Rikspolisstyrelsen.

All of my info is as of Nov 2013, when I had my interview.

1. I got my NOA2 Oct 3rd and had my interview Nov 14.

2. Start preparing. Definitely order the police record now, since that's the one that takes the longest to get.

3. Package 3 as of Nov 2013: Pay the bank fee; Complete DS160 online application form; Have a valid passport; Have police records; Have long form birth cert with parents on it; passport pictures in the American style, not Swedish; Bring court and/or prison and/or military records if you have any; Bring old marriage certs+divorce certs if applicable; Bring I-134, Evidence of Support; Arrange for a medical exam.

Any new proof of the relationship seems to be appreciated at the embassy, like photos and stuff.

The things that take the longest (beacuase they have to be ordered/planned ahead) are Police record, Birth Cert, Medical Exam and super duper long I-134, since you're probably gonna need papers sent over from your USC SO.

Good luck!

Oh, and depending on how soon you want to leave, now might be a good time to order an international driver's license. That also takes a while to process.

Entered on a K1 Visa, now a proud holder of a ten-year Green Card!

Any other Danes on here? Though I appreciate seeing all of you Scandinavians ;)

Just sent our I-130 and I 485 with I765 and I131 yesterday.

I hope to get approved asap - but dont we all ;) Been here in NY since Jan 2012 on F1 visa. Didnt intend to get married but life happens you know...

AOS from F-1, maintaining status

August 2010 was introduced to each other during a visit in NY.
01/14/2012: Arrived at JFK with F-1 visa with the intention of studying for three years, and then do OPT. Intention was not to get married!
Yet, almost five semesters as a full-time international student later he proposed ...

04/07/2014: Married in Queens, NY

06/26/2014: I-485, I-130, I-765, I-131 and supporting documents sent to Chicago Lockbox via USPS Priority.

06/30/2014: USPS states delivery happened 6:50 am.

07/07/2014: Received NOA of I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765 dated 07/02. --- What a great 3-month anniversary gift!

07/15/2014: Received Biometrics appointment scheduled 07/31, in Long Island City.

07/31/2014: Biometrics done. Process took 45 minutes. 99% was waiting time. Awesome people working there. Good experience!

08/06/2014: Case i-485 updated to Testing & Interview on uscis.gov - - Yay!

08/29/2014: Updates on I-765, card in production as well as I-131.

09/04/2014: Update on I-485, interview scheduled for October 10th, 2014.
09/08/2014: Received combo-card. Went straight to Social Security office to get SSN.
09/15/2014: Received Social security card in mail.
10/10/2014: Interview at Long Island City. Took no more than 10 minutes. Was simple, normal questions. Was approved on spot.

ROC

10/07/2016: USPS stated I-751 was delivered. Also sent in fee waiver request.
10/19/2016: Got everything back, with denied fee waiver. They misspelled my name. Makes me wonder if they even read my application. My name is all over the papers.
10/25/2016: Sent in ROC (I-751) again, with USPS.

10/29/2016: I-751 delivered again.
11/2/2016: Checks cashed
12/16/2016: Biometrics done in LIC, Queens.

There is a really vibrant Danish community in NYC compared to other places.

Yeah, I've been a part of the danish community in NYC for years now. There's a lot of activities. I'm also a member of Facebook groups with Danes living in the US.

I was thinking it would be fun to other Danes' timelines. Also, I traveled to NY many many times before coming here on a student visa. I'm worried that it'll be a red flag.

Nah, it shouldn't be a problem - you've been in a relationship for a while, you were here on a proper visa and got time to get to know each other, etc.

Plus, your Danish, the chances of fraud are really low. Almost no-one gets denied AOS unless there is a money or eligibility problem (like crossing the border without inspection), so I wouldn't worry about it.

I tried to get my husband involved in the Danish community, but I think he felt like the people in the NY/CT area were from such different backgrounds in Denmark than him and it was awkward interacting with them socially. His family is very much salt of the earth, unlike a lot of the Danes who seem to live in America who are more professional and educated. He seemed to get along with our realtor, though, so at least there was that.

See, that's the kind of confirmation that I need. I did travel a lot back an forth, maybe 13-14 times since 2006 but I never overstayed, I just loved life here a lot better than in Denmark. So, I finally applied to college in NY and I got in. Yes, the other red flag might be that I actually got my apartment before I got my F-1 visa. But then again, it doesn't state no where that I can't do that. I only got it because it was perfect and I already was accepted into school. I came here on Visa Waiver and left before it expired to go back and apply for the visa. I got it, came back and never returned to Denmark. I've been here 2.5 years and it feels like home. More so than I felt living back in Copenhagen. And like your husband, I feel the same way about the danish community in NY. I don't socialize with them out of the benefit of making friends, rather just on a professional level - an in the beginning it was nice to see how other made it.

My husband I met in 2010, but it was a real relationship with all that comes with it; a few breaks here and there, him taking his time realizing he wants to be with me, me being stubborn and feeling that I wanted to make it to the US on my own. Sillyness, now looking back - but oh, so real.

But all in all: Being a danish citizen, with all the benefits that comes with it should prove that I actually really love my husband, and want to be with him out of love - and not because of the greencard.

Well, I got a "Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case" letter! It says that processing might take up to six months, which is fine. I have my AP and my EAD, so I can just wait it out at this point. I'm relieved that I won't be called to an interview this summer, since I'll be in Sweden for most of it.

In other news, speaking of midsummer, I found herring at my local Stop&Shop! It's a brand called "Vita" and they kept it by the sour cream. I know it's not for everyone, but I was bummed about having to live without it. :P (I know they have it at IKEA, but that's too far to drive for just sill.)

How is everyone celebrating the 4th? We have a friend with a boat, so we're gonna go out on the night of the 3rd to watch fireworks. I still don't understand why they have fireworks on the wrong day!

I'm working at Target 11 am till 7 pm.

Last year we just had a cookout at my in-laws' place. Me, my wife, her parents, her daughter (who will be 14 at the end of July), her brother and his fiancée. My wife's son (who's 19) stopped by for a bit.

In the evening my wife, her daughter and I went and watched the fireworks.

The first time I visited here in 2010 we did pretty much the same thing.

I thought there was gonna be parades and all kinds of stuff. Not in Pittsburgh, PA. The fireworks were pretty amazing though, and I like that it seems to be mostly a family type holiday.

USCIS just handed me an RFE because my personbevis isn't sufficient. Where did you guys obtain the right one? Yes, I am born before 1991.

Available. Birth records for persons born after July 1, 1991 are called "Personbevis", and are issued by the local office of Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), covering the applicant's place of residence at the time of birth. (If place of birth is unknown, apply for the birth record through 'Riksregistret' at the Swedish Tax Agency.) The complete version should state the applicant's date and place of birth, the names of both parents, their marital status and their date of marriage, if applicable. Birth records for persons born before July 1, 1991 can be obtained both from the parish office (Pastorsambetet) in the parish of the applicant's birth and from the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket)
