I think it depends on what field you are in. My 4,5 years in university is more or less wasted here. I'm a teacher and that is not doing me any good over here.

Hopefully mine, computer science and Business Administration in Accounting/Management Accounting & Finance/Corporate Finance will help me. Otherwise, I assume the only path would be going back to school for a masters degree t.ex. MBA.

Personally, I think it will be fine because it is easily relatable. Things like my husband's technical training or teaching credentials are not so easily transferable because of the different laws and career paths.

Have you tried a private school or going for a masters in education or something? Usually private schools don't require a teaching license.

We're doing good! Found a house we like and we're in the middle of closing on it. Inspections and meetings with the bank, oh my. My USC husband will be the only one on the mortgage, but I'll be on the title as well. It'll be nice to move out, we've been staying with his mom so far. She's a very nice lady but we all need more space.

I've been going to the gym a fair amount, helps me works off some culture shock issues and just get in better shape. The pop tarts aren't helping.

We are also going house shopping in the coming weeks, we will both be on the title though but we have no mortgage. We've been living with my mother for 10 months now and it has been very trying.

Our other house sold a few weeks ago and we have our first IVF consult in a week or so.

The Danish in-laws are coming for a little while in May and I am hoping and praying I'll actually be able to speak to my father in law by then.

Norwegian class is going well, I just can't get the vocal intonations right though, my husband keeps telling me I sound too Danish when I speak Norwegian. It is actually helping with the Danish finally.

I've been thinking about thst too. December 23, 2012 was when I got here so I still have a lot of time, but I want to be prepared when that day comes. Plus making $8 an hour, I am trying to save up the money required to pay the fee.

Ok time for me to buckle up and get ready. Initiate phase 2, AOS. I mean almost. Should probably start my research about what I need in terms of forms, papers, evidence and such..

Hey, anyone with experience of applying for a work permit asap after you walk of the plane with a K-1 and no I-450 (or whatever the number is on the AOS). Apparently, the paper from the Embassy states that I can apply to get one. But am I correct when assuming that no one does because it takes the USCIS, as always, forever to process the application for EAD?

My understanding would be that that you would probably receive around the time of the other one and I believe you have to pay for it if separate than your AOS application. If you are super concerned, you can get civilly married the day after you land and send off the AOS and EAD/AP paperwork then. Might be the easiest solution.

I sent everything off last week for AoS, now I'm just waiting for a text or an e-mail or hell, even the physical NOA1 so we can get started on the next long wait. :) I applied for the EAD and the AP at the same time, so I have nothing to offer on that.

Just a quick note that you can't always get married right away, there are different wait periods in different states, and usually both parties have to apply for the marriage license together. Here's a list. Also remember that it might take a while for you to get your marriage certificate. It took us about a week or so.

Good to know. Then in my case, vacation sounds as the superior alternative here. I think I can sit tight for a month until the wedding itself will happen.

But I can walk down to the office and apply for a SSN about a week efter poe? Read so many different stories regarding this matter..

May I ask what you brought to the office to make this happen? Way to go Minnesota, 5 days. However, our big day is a month away. That should leave me with plenty of time to become accustomed to the US life again and become tired of doing nothing productive.

Thank you guys for the speedy answers.
