Hi. Unfortunately, before.getting in i had a horrible experience!!! I will tell you more soon, but now i.need.to know, if.my.fiance were divorced in queens new york, does.the.certified copy of divorce decree have to.come from them, or can.he get it where.he lives now?? We need that, everything else.was in order!!

The American system works that the divorce, marriage, and birth records are only kept by the place they were issued. So you must go back to the county (Queens) that he was divorced in to find said records. The key in New York is to order a divorce decree through the county rather than a certificate through the state. I don't know how long it will take, I once asked Queens to pull my mother and father's long form marriage certificate about 3 years ago to prove that I was a legitimate birth and it took them 6 months! I ended up just pleading with the British passport agency to use my British birth registration instead. *sigh* Perhaps if yours is more recent than the 1980s it will be quicker.

Lol, wow, yes it was in 2011, my fiance.said that we will get it within 5-10 days. So frustrating, everything else was good, and i have been planning to leave 10th of february, guess that wont happen :/

I brought copies of my Fiancées divorce decrees, but these were not stamped and signed, so they were not authorized copies. Luckily enough she lives in the State where she was divorced so she went there and got them right away, sent with DHL Express and it only took 2 days. We were lucky there.

Lucky you!! This is unexpected delay and expenses for us! But we are approved,we just have to send the certified copy to them. Wait til you hear my story, i will update it in the embassy review by the weekend.

It took you 2 days for them to finalize your visa? Or how fast did they send your visa after recieving thw document?

They printed the visa the same day they got our additional documents.

Thats good news!! Hope they will do that for us too!! It will take maybe 1 and a half week until they have ours though, like i said i was suppose to leave on the 10th of feb, so i hope it will be processed just as quick as yours! :-)

Thank you, the divorce decree is already in delivery!! And he will get it on monday, so the embassy should have itat least by wednesday/thursday

I bet the VISA will be in you hand a week after they receive the documents. Congratulations.

Did anyone use a co-sponsor for the I-134 at the embassy here in Sweden? I assume we do not need a BC to prove USC, this assumption is based upon the fact that I cannot find any information about this at all anywhere.

You'll need a birth certificate or a US passport copy.

No, I didn't say I got my VISA, I said it took two days for the divorce decrees to arrive from the US. They had all the documents on Wednesday, so I'm expecting the VISA soon.
