Hi there! My Swedish fiance and I have received our second NOA that our I129F has been approved and is being sent to the consulate. He is planning a trip to visit me over the holidays, but we are concerned about how the interview process works. Will he receive a specific date/time for the interview at the consulate in Stockholm? Or will he be given a timeframe in which to set up his own appointment? Looks like things move pretty quickly with the overall process for Swedes...

Thanks much for any information!

Stephanie

Hi! Swedish beneficiary here.

The way it worked for us was that my fiance, the US citizen, got a letter instructing him to tell me to fill out the DS160 online. Soon after that, he got an email (presumably from the contact info I filled out in the form) telling me my interview date. The e-mail had instructions attached on what to bring, birth cert, police cert, stuff like that. The interview date was three weeks away. Hope this helps!

/El

It's really dead in here, lol, well, like i stated before, we got our approval from uscis yesterday. Now i am wondering, what is packet 3 and packet 4 specifically???

Hi!

Not sure if you've already received the packet, but for us, the US beneficiary got a letter telling us to fill out the DS160 online. Then he got an email with my interview date. Attached was a PDF telling me what to bring to the interview. It's pretty much the standard list - the birth cert that you already have, the police cert, passport photos, stamps, the I-134 with additional proof, etc. Not sure what packet 4 would be. Maybe that email is packet 4, which would make the letter to the US citizen packet 3? Any other questions, feel free to ask - I'm just a month ahead of you in the process, got our NOA early in October and got an approval at the embassy last week. :)

Hi everyone!

I'm El, Swedish, and I'm pretty much done with the grueling K1 process. I should have my passport+visa in hand tomorrow, heading across the Atlantic in December. I know this forum isn't that active, but I figure I might as well join you guys and help out if anyone has any questions. Our visa process took just under 4 months from sending out the application to getting our visa, so we've been super lucky with no RFEs, no problems. Did everything ourselves. I'm excited to be able to move over to RI soon and get married to my fiance!

Hey, first post from me.

I am searching for someone who already had his or her medical in Sweden. Specifically the experience regarding immunization records, such as – did you have to take a Hep A/B shot? Booster shoot? Is the vaccination we get as children here in Sweden sufficient? Also, did you (as a Swede) get the appointment fairly quick or will it be an awful waiting time?

Me? I am a 24 male, part-time employee/student, she is 26 (27 in January)and student (M.D.) Anyone with same background and have anything interesting to share, please I encourage you, do so. Any other information that would be useful?

(Currently waiting for NOA2).

Hej!

I had all my vaccination records in order after having applied for a student visa back in the day. Since I had to re-up some shots and get some extra ones for the student visa, I'm not entirely sure if what we get as kids is enough, sorry.

I called Sibyllekliniken (in Stockholm) on a Monday, got an appointment time that same Wednesday, so it was super fast. The chest x-ray is drop in at Sophiahemmet, so that one wasn't a problem either. I was able to book the medical before the embassy had received the files, but you will need your case number from NVC.

Yeah, it's been smooth sailing so far for us, ta i trä. wink.png We got our case number by calling NVC. (I emailed them as well, to no avail.) You don't really need to call them, as it doesn't speed up the process - at least not for us. One advantage to knowing it is that I was able to book my medical, but as I said to another poster, we got our medical appointment in two days, so waiting for the embassy email wouldn't have been a problem timewise.

Congrats on it going so quickly for you! It didn't go that quickly for us with either the I-129F or the I-130s, except maybe the second one. We are one of the rare cases that was allowed to DCF through the embassy though. RI is about an hour away from us! I don't know if you knew but there is a Scandinavian store in Mystic, CT (right over the border from RI) called Bestemors.

As for us, we are debating on going to the julemarked i den Danske Sømandskirke. It is this weekend, men min mand kan ikke lide store byer.

(I'm trying to work more on my Danish, so pardon any mistakes).

Thanks! Yeah, we've been really lucky, judging by Igor's list and the other stats on this site.

I didn't know about the Scandinavian store! We actually got engaged in Mystic, I can't believe I missed that store. I've been going to IKEA in Mass for my Swedish food needs. IKEA apparently also hosts Christmas buffets and I know that the SVEA organisation in Boston has an annual Christmas fair. Lots of Scandinavian things to do!

Hey, I bet your Danish is better than mine! ;)

(Currently waiting for NOA2).

Do you have your vaccination records on hand? If so seee what you got, you might need a hep shot.If you aren't sure call one of the doctors in sweden that performs the exams and double check. Some shots you need 2 of and there must be a certain time in between. I didn't have to take any shots but that was because I was pregnant. My son hadto get a few shots. If you dont have vaccinations records you can obtain them. But look into the vaccinaton situation asap so you dont have to wait on that.

Getting a doc appointment shouldnt take too long but remember xmas is coming up and they seem to take a lot of time off then.
