Good points. Thanks man!

Hope you're doing well.good.gif

Doing well!

Can't start the divorce process until one of us have lived in CA for at least 6 months, which will be in March. Currently neither of us fulfill residency requirements to get divorced anywhere. Gives us 5 months to make the final, ultimate decision I guess.

Hope all is well in the city of steelers!

I can't complain (well the Steelers aren't doing too well so far so I guess I could). I got a job working at Target. It's not much, but it's something.

Hi there! My Swedish fiance and I have received our second NOA that our I129F has been approved and is being sent to the consulate. He is planning a trip to visit me over the holidays, but we are concerned about how the interview process works. Will he receive a specific date/time for the interview at the consulate in Stockholm? Or will he be given a timeframe in which to set up his own appointment? Looks like things move pretty quickly with the overall process for Swedes...

Thanks much for any information!

Once the I-129f is approved, it's sent to the national visa center which forwards it to the embassy. If the petition has already been sent to the embassy, you should expect to hear from the embassy shortly in the form of packet 3 and packet 4. By mail.

Hi there! This week marks the 11th month we've been in the K1 process. Our first package was sent the first week of December last year but was never acknowledged by USCIS. Upon their advice we submitted a 2nd package in early February which was received along with the 1st package, sequential receipt numbers and all.

That probably slowed down our process and we've had to get my senator's office involved but they've requested an expedite on our case which was agreed to by USCIS. We may have progress soon.

In the meantime, I'll be going to visit my fiancé for 10 days over Thanksgiving in Denmark and I'm really excited! We met while working in Greenland and lived together for 2 yrs before moving back to the US last April. I haven't been to Denmark yet, so this will be fun.

Now that I've introduced our case to everyone, is there any advice for my fiancé when he finally makes it over here permanently? Any Danes in the midwest? Oklahoma?

Thanks!
Kayla

@scartwright, we got our NOA2 on Oct. 2, and the petition was forwarded from the CSC to NVC on Oct. 25th. The NVC hasn't actually received it yet though, so we are hopeful that will be this week sometime. I freaked out because the NVC said they have 90 DAYS to forward the packet to the embassy (btw, we assumed my fiance would go to the embassy in Oslo for his interview, but it sounds like everyone has to go to Stockholm??), but other people on this site have assured me that real time processing right now is 5-7 days before it is sent to the embassy.

People on here have also suggested that 60-70 days is the time frame for Scandanavian K-1 visas, from NOA2 to embassy appointment. This is a lot faster than I thought it would be (it took us 7.5 months to get NOA2). My fiance is coming to the US on a tourist visa on Dec.7 for a month, but now it looks likely his embassy date will be set sometime in Dec, so we have to figure out if we can change his ticket. You can ask for a new date when they assign one for your embassy interview, but I have heard that this is not a good idea, and you should do everything you can to stick to the original assignment...

Well, we are in New England, but hopefully planning a move to the upper Midwest soon. I wouldn't worry too much because Danes integrate terribly well. People here (especially older women) are enamored with my husband in ways they never were in DK. I don't think he has ever gotten so much positive feedback from people. I met a Danish lady who was here 20 years and I though she was the American wife because she had absolutely no trace of an accent. I'd be prepared for it to leave quickly.

However, the summers are hard on him especially when it gets above 90 F and maybe Oklahoma doesn't have this problem but this summer here was incredibly hot and humid and he just couldn't tolerate it. Also, the work situation is rough with regards to not having the vacation time and paid sick days. He's really tired at the end of a work week. I think it is better than it was before, but still. I did try and mentally prep him for that before we moved.

We did try and find some Danish events at the Scando club, etc, but I don't know about your Dane, but mine was kind of like "meh, I don't really want to talk to people just because they are also Danish." I think it might have also been because the Danes that were there were like the embassy workers and business people and there is sometimes that educational 'class' divide in DK.

We were able to find Coronet ginger cookies and a couple of other Danish foods at Ocean State Job Lot (sort of like Big Lots). I was able to borrow a Danish cookbook from the library and find an æbleskiver pan and turners at Williams Sonoma. I know my husband can not have the Christmas season without them.

Also, I do not know about anyone else but he hates the bread here, so a good, thick rye bread recipe comes in handy or in a pinch those German pre packaged breads at the supermarket.

Finally, and I should have anticipated this because I had the same problem in DK, just because someone is fluent or independent doesn't always mean that they want to figure everything out on their own. My husband still can not figure out check writing or how to shop for the lowest price groceries with so many selections (I think he gets overwhelmed with the choice).

Hey, first post from me.

I am searching for someone who already had his or her medical in Sweden. Specifically the experience regarding immunization records, such as – did you have to take a Hep A/B shot? Booster shoot? Is the vaccination we get as children here in Sweden sufficient? Also, did you (as a Swede) get the appointment fairly quick or will it be an awful waiting time?

Me? I am a 24 male, part-time employee/student, she is 26 (27 in January)and student (M.D.) Anyone with same background and have anything interesting to share, please I encourage you, do so. Any other information that would be useful?

(Currently waiting for NOA2).

ROC Packet delivered 2/24/2017 - GC Expiration 5/20/2017.

NOA - 2/27

Bio - Walk-in 3/10
